Meet Anna Rezan | Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Rezan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anna, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Growing up in Athens, Greece …the phrase that kept me going is that of Walt Disney “Dreams do come true if we have the courage to pursue them”. I was born to a lawyer, who wanted to become an actress and to a federal judge who wanted to become a director.
I enrolled in dance studies at the age of 4.
I began acting as a child on the stage of a Club Med while on family vacation in the hotel’s musical shows.
My career began in my early teens by appearing in films and television series.
My first big role was in “La commedia di Amos Poe “, that premiered in Venice Film Festival and I am forever grateful to Amos.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Nothing was given to me easily . I had to do a lot of energy healing work to heal generational trauma and a variety of subconscious beliefs that were not allowing me to enjoy life and receive more opportunities.
Well I got into modeling to fund my artistic endeavors…to pay for acting classes, singing lesson, to meet people .When I was Miss Greece Young the reality is I wanted to travel, the beauty pageant was being held in Rome, Italy. So it was also a chance for major sightseeing.
I’m interested in all forms of art, whether it’s music, cinema, painting, or dancing
As a musician I am exploring various musical styles and I am staging a play .Each song is a different project and serves certain causes I wholeheartedly support. ” Like a summer night ” is an ode to the bright side of masculinity and passion. ‘Happiness is a warm gun” is the message that the true nature of being a rocker is to be healthy and happy .
My collaboration with the legendary Mikis Theodorakis is a rebellious act of freedom. “Let there be Love” is a political statement.
My directorial debut is a feature documentary, My People. We just had our world premiere in LA , a few weeks ago and I am so excited.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to my hang out The Den on Sunset, I love the strip … We would watch some comedy at the club ..

Rainbow for drinks…the Chateau Marmont for dinner…or Toi for a late night dinner..yummy
On Santa Monica Blvd, Bar Lubitsch, Astroburger and Delilah’s

The sunset Marquis is perfect for cocktails along with the sunset tower

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Looking back on it, I was an seventeen-year-old girl going off to NYC by myself, into the wilderness with a whole bunch of strangers to do an acting workshop.Greece at the moment wasn’t as happening in the film world as it is now.No other Greek person of my generation was doing what I did. I was scared but the will to live was stronger than that.
The people that I met where like me and we took care of each other like a family. A bunch of dreamers, filmmakers like Hannah Fierman,Dean Kaltsas, Demetrios Rhobotis, Boman Modine, Aksel Stasny… and everyone was contributing something and is passionate about their work.
