We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Volz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After college ended, I knew I had to stick with my passion, and working on my own would be the best way to fulfill myself. Working for myself allows me to produce art that I love, and also leaves my free to make art for arts sake. Producing art is important to me, and having the time to work and share what gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make art that has a great aesthetic appeal and there is a lot of potential to reach a broad audience. Its been difficult to increase my outreach, but overall I love doing what I do. I am very proud about the quality of my art, and the aesthetic that has emerged. I got to my current position by really being motivated to make art that I love.
Of course I have had challenges, its not easy to focus on making art, when the world is in such a tumultuous time, but extreme conditions breed motivation, and creative ideas.
My brand has room for growth, but I am someone who believes in his work, and is committed to their cause.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a few friends from out of state, and I have the rare opportunity to show them the best of my area. I would take them to some very interesting places, usually lesser known, or more insider. There is a place out near long beach harbor, known as sunken city, which is one of my go to places. The place is only really known by the people from around, its not the “nicest” place, but in terms of aesthetic and atmosphere its 10/10. We would probably spend most our time near the beach, visiting Pacific city and Huntington beach pier, exploring as we go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people who deserve shout-outs. Dana Anderson – Shes a hard working teacher in high school. She spends a lot of her own time working hard for her students, and really instilling in them a love for art.
