Meet Apuroopa Kavikondala | 4x Published Author and Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Apuroopa Kavikondala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Apuroopa, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Make your impact. I think — beyond anything in this world — this was the phrase that kept me going throughout every downside in my writing journey. Every time I felt like I could no longer write or didn’t have the motivation to do so, I would remember that I was writing about mental health and trying to spread awareness and destigmatize the topic because I wanted to impact people.
In my mind, if I impact even one person, I made that impact. Because that one person will pass the impact forward, and soon enough, there you have it: a ripple effect!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The journey is never easy. There will always be ups and downs, which makes it a part of life. And above all, fun and a significant learning experience that shapes us into who we are today.
Whenever I felt as though I could not continue or needed a break, I took one. This was extremely beneficial It reminded me that I could work on my own terms and that the impact I was making was in my own hands. With this, I got through all the hard times. (And of course, with the unconditional love and support of all the people I mentioned before).
I want the world to know that nothing is ever easy and nothing is ever free. It will be hard, but something being hard is not an excuse to give up. It can be a reason to stop and rest, but never to give up. If you want to achieve your dreams, if you want to land among the stars, if you want to go beyond the clouds, never give up. Flip the script and change the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I actually live in Washington State, but I would love to take my best friend to the Space Needle, my school, the Starbucks I always work at, and my favorite place to get ice cream, food, and boba. I would take her to all the places I love being in because, well, I love her!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! My family, two of my long-distance best friends, and my favorite teacher are all people who have kept me going on my journey. I’ve always wanted to make my impact, but my mom, dad, brother, two best friends, and teacher make the process fun! They make me want to get up every day and write for them, if not for anyone else in the whole world 🙂
