We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawn Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shawn, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Waking up early. Giving myself enough time to work out, meditate, & study my craft, build my business & brand.
Posting more on social media allowing people to build trust within me & my brand. Maintaining a 60% business 40% personal life posting strategy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is the amount of focus & energy I put into making my art extremely detailed & realistic. I got to where I was today by finding creative ways to network & get my brand out to the public, not being afraid of change, accepting constructive criticism to become better, being open to learning new perspectives & never giving up. It’s definitely not easy, but by always having a clear visual of where you want to see yourself in the future, that will always keep you going even through the tough times. Lessons I’ve learned along the way is to not take things too seriously, celebrate the small wins & enjoy/trust the process. Me & my brand is just a representation of how I would like to see the world, giving back by providing knowledge & helping others become the best version of themselves by doing what they love to do daily.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Good places to eat in St. Louis would be of course St. Louis original Imos Pizza, any Chinese Food restaurant in the city is amazing & My personal favorite, Kobe’s Japanese Steak House is awesome for dining in, there’s a chef who cooks food in front of you.
Good places to drink would be The Lou Eats & Drink , Big Daddy’s On The Landing & Mas Tequilla St. Louis.
Good places to visit & hang out would be Union Station, they have The St. Louis Wheel, The Aquarium St. Louis, mini golf & a lot of other amazing things. Also Ballpark Village is a good place to visit as well since we are home of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Even a nice ride around downtown on the lime bikes is fun also.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my lady Dejah Felton for the endless support, love and encouragement. Mike Cross, Big Homie, & Morgan for opening the doors into my tattoo career. Chico Cortez for being a awesome mentor, brother & business partner & helping me take my career & life to the next level. Director Fonzy for connecting me with Shout Out LA. Last but not least, a big shoutout to my friends, family & everyone out there who’s been supporting me throughout my career.
