Meet Arielle Ross | Founder and CEO of Relevation Beauty

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arielle Ross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I consider myself to be very impact driven.

I fell in love with makeup when I was in the 5th grade. It was a whole new world of colors, textures, creativity and art. With time, lots of practice and a few willing test subjects, I improved upon my craft. People started to notice that I had a talent for makeup application and began asking me to do their makeup for school dances and prom. Eventually, the caliber of event grew and I found myself doing makeup for photoshoots, campaigns, influencers and celebrities.

I’ve always loved doing makeup, but as I previously mentioned, I am extremely impact driven. I knew I could have a greater impact on society, specifically women, if I started a business. Through a lot of strategy, networking, saving and hard work, I was able to launch my own cosmetics line – Relevation Beauty.

We are a modern cosmetics company – which means that we use our product sales to fund programs for women’s education as well as initiatives to protect the environment.

What should our readers know about your business?
Relevation Beauty is a modern cosmetics company built on a women empowerment platform. At Relevation, makeup isn’t a mask, it’s a cape! It’s our superpower and we are using our superpower to uplift and empower women all over the world.

It took about two years of product development to come out with our flagship product – The Dream Palette. The Dream Palette is a 10 shade palette that can be used on the eyes and the face. The product itself is completely clean, vegan, free of any harsh chemicals and of course, never tested on animals. The Dream Palette is the epitome of high-performance clean beauty. With that said, the product sales are just the catalyst to be able to do meaningful work to uplift and empower women worldwide. 10% of every single palette purchase goes towards keeping young women and girls in school and out of child marriage. When you purchase the product, not only do you invest In yourself, you invest in the education of women.

In addition to our work in the women empowerment space, we are well aware that capitalism is one of the driving forces of global warming. We make every effort to limit our environmental footprint. For every palette sold, we plant a tree in a part of the world that needs it most. We utilize a shipping company that completely offsets their carbon footprint so every shipment that goes out has a net carbon footprint of zero. Our packaging and shipping materials are recyclable and/or biodegradable. Lastly, our ingredients are ethically sourced and our product is made in California.

That’s what sets us apart. Brands always say that beauty goes deeper than the skin, but where is the activism behind it? We strive to create the most high quality products while doing everything in our power to leave the world better than we found it. And honestly, that’s what I’m most proud of – the number of young women who get to go to school and chase their dream because of the product sales.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Malibu is one of my favorite places in the world. It’s so serene (if you don’t go on a weekend in the Summer!), peaceful, beautiful and frankly, a sanctuary. Definitely check out the headlands on Point Dume. The view is breathtaking and it is a beautiful walk.

For a great, authentic Italian meal, I would go to Vito’s in Santa Monica. Amazing food, cozy vibe and they make the Caesar salad right at your table!

For a drink, I have two recommendations. Bar Chloe in Santa Monica is a dark and sexy vibe. Great for a late night drink or intimate conversation. If you’re looking for something a bit more fun, check out High Rooftop in Venice. It is a rooftop so the views are great. Awesome vibes, unique drinks and a fun place to go if people are visiting from out of town.

This one is a MUST…..Harvelle’s in Santa Monica for live music. I’m a big blues fan and this is the best live music I’ve found in L.A. Go on the first Saturday of every month…..you won’t be disappointed.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Relevation wouldn’t exist without my support system. I wouldn’t be who I am without my support system. There are SO many important people who have played a role in my success and the success of Relevation, but here are a few:

My brothers – I have two brothers who are my best friends in the world. They make my life more fun every single day and remind me to never take myself too seriously. They add so much happiness and laughter into my life.

My dad – He was an incredible businessman, but more than that, he taught me what it looks like to operate a business with integrity and a huge heart. He taught me how to have a business and a life that makes the world a little bit better than how I found it.

My mom – She is one of my biggest supporters. She is always encouraging me to go after my dreams and she never has too much on her plate to lend a helping hand and show up for me.

My mentor, Jeffri-Lynn Campbell – JLC was a previous boss, turned mentor, turned great friend. She really showed me what it is like to run a company – the good, the bad and the ugly. She taught me so much about branding, marketing and communication. I learn from her constantly and feel so grateful our paths crossed.

My therapist – Slightly random and maybe a bit comical, but it’s true. She has kept me grounded, aligned with my morals and continuously growing into a better version of myself. I highly encourage everyone to go to therapy. It just helps to make you a better human.
