Meet Arron Jones-Williams | CEO & Philanthropist & Foster Kid

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arron Jones-Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arron, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I volunteered with the Long Island Bulldog Rescue as I worked in Finance in the city. The rescue always had a gala at the end of the year where various companies sponsored etc. Normally I am dressed up helping at the tables and being a part of the support staff at the gala. Every year a company would donate a large check. One day I had a dream of volunteering at the gala and they called my name. I changed my outfit into a suit like superman and walked onto stage where I donated a $60,000 check in the name of a company. Everyone was clapping and talking about treats. I woke up and thought what was that… I had a company, a treat company but what was the name? Something about the rescue and treats and rescue treats! There, the company was rescue treats so I looked up the website and there was nothing. There was no trademark so I just went with it. Created the company, got the trademark, took an opportunity. Basically, I want to donate more than $60,000. If we can make the best treats on top of donating all the net profits we will easily donate more than that a month. Fingers crossed with the right big retail partnership we can make that dream into reality.
Rescue Treats was founded in order to help fund dog rescues while providing treats dogs go crazy for. We bake all-natural dog treats and donate the profits to dog rescues. We would be a non-profit, but when do you see non-profit products in stores? That is why we are here to change the status quo. Donate it all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Rescue Treats we bake all-natural dog treats and donate the profits to dog rescues. We are the first company of it’s kind in the space. We are also a minority-owned and certified dog treat company. You can select a rescue to support at checkout on each purchase online! Even cooler, you can “subscribe & save” to a rescue. We have had a long journey to get where we are. I am grateful for our board members for their guidance and support as well as taking each day one hour at a time. Every day as a business owner you face challenges. If you don’t love solving problems then business isn’t for you. Growing up in foster care I realized early on that life is just full of hardships so the sooner you realize that the easier life is. It is hard to be disappointed when you realize it is a part of life just work on it.
Most importantly, I am a former foster kid so I know all about searching for a forever home. I’ve found my forever home and I want to help fund rescues to help dogs find their forever homes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am always cycling throughout the city and finding new locations and cool spots. Everyone knows when they come and visit me they will be tired every day from walking/cycling etc. We are going everywhere. There is so much to do in the city you shouldn’t have a plan. Just start walking in a direction and you will quickly find something fun to do. Don’t do the tourist spots or the spots you see on social media because you are already late… Lines are massive and it just isn’t the same. Find your own hidden gems the city is full of them. Going no where fast is the fastest way to be somewhere fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mentor Thione Niang. I’ve always wanted to give back to others and after meeting Thione I was inspired to do more than just that. I’ve even took some stock money I successfully invested and helped fund an agriculture school in Senegal with him. His book “Memoirs of an Eternal Optimist” is beyond inspirational. My outlook on life has changed.
