We had the good fortune of connecting with Arthur Li and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arthur, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason is simple: the path to an artistic career is something that I’m interested in when I was young. I have so many hobbies that can all contribute to my career which is acting. I’ve seen many talented people and I have no doubt that I would be one of them and even better. My family has nothing to do with acting, but, somehow, I could not resist the charisma of acting which resides in my nature. Thus, a warning comes from my parents that I need to think very carefully about my future. After a long time, I decided that it would be my future career. I begin to film my first short film and, unexpectedly, it received 300,000 views as my first production; it grants me more confidence. What follows next are years of training skills such as dancing, operatic singing, martial arts, firearm, and instruments. Until this day, I’m still learning to find the path and tell myself that the dream would come true one day.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There are many talented people around the world and no one could say we are completely different than others, but what makes me stand out, I believe, is the mindset. One could learn how to dance when he chooses to or he could learn martial arts when he wants to, but you have to know the reason and to what extent do you want to achieve. For me, I’ve gone through state competitions for dance, years of opera singing, firearm, and martial arts training. I’ve trained with the most elite army forces for years; I’ve danced with some of the most brilliant choreographers. These experiences set me up to a level that I can have the confidence to do whatever the script asks me to do and I could say “I can do it”. I believe this is the professional spirit in whatever job we choose to do. If someone asks me is that easy, I would say no, but if someone asks me “Do you enjoy it”? I would answer those days should never be forgotten because they are parts of me that contribute to my final goal.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would host my friend in the beach area because I live near the area and I know how beautiful the sea is. I would definitely take him to the places that I train if he is also interested in what am I doing. In these places, he might even meet some celebrities…who knows! We might visit the city of LA just to feel the multi-culture of this city. In the city, there are so many styles of restaurants and he can choose whatever he likes; I would recommend Chinese restaurants to him because it is my favorite! After that, watching opera is a very good choice so he does not only feel the modern vibe, but a little classical element can do the day. In the end, we would go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and I’d tell him this is where the dream starts for me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents are the most important parts that contribute to my career. They absolutely have been spending some tough time from an almost bankrupt business; yet, they still support me to do the things I want instead of helping them with their business. Their spirit of freedom and respect deeply influence me until this day and I guess that’s the reason why I always treat things very optimistically. Besides them, I’ve encountered some most amazing mentors in different fields such as dancing, martial arts. For me, they are not only teaching valuable knowledge, but they are also the teacher of life. Some teach me what does society works once I leave school; some teach me how to make friends and know who are worthy to spend time with; some teach me how to not give up when I’m afraid to keep going. All of them give me so much help and make me the one who loves to help others.
