We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley George and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As long I can remember, I’ve had the strong desire to have something of my own. I knew I wanted an outlet that would fill my social and creative cups, so to speak. I am a full-time working mom of two, but I felt like I had space for more. I came across permanent jewelry and after months and months of research and planning, I jumped in feet first.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A year ago I took the leap on something I had been thinking about doing for a while. 6 months before, I was told it was oversaturated, there was no market for it, so I let the idea fall to the side. I had an ‘ah-ha’ moment and decided to go with my gut and get my business up and running against that advice. That was the first lesson I learned – follow my gut. From there I did everything I needed to do to launch my permanent jewelry business. Spent countless hours researching, training, practicing, and finding the best quality products on the market. I knew that I wanted to be able to give people an experience first, and from that a sentimental piece of jewelry that would always be with them. I focus on high-quality materials and giving the customer full creative control. I am here to guide them, but I really love when someone walks away with a piece of jewelry that has a story behind it. As women, I think we are pulled in so many different directions and it’s easy to think that you can’t do all of things your heart wants to do. With the support of my partner, I’m so proud that I have been able to add this wonderful business into my life. I have been blessed with staying extremely busy and have so many wonderful friends who have supported me and helped support my business. I have so many big hopes and dreams for this endeavor, I’m so excited to see what this next year brings for me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My perfect visit to the South Bay would start with breakfast and coffee from Hi-Fi Espresso in the Riviera Village. Their French toast latte is out of this world, and they always have gluten-free options for me to grab. My go-to being the overnight oats. Then we would head to the Esplanade and check the waves, hopefully seeing some dolphins passing though. After that I would head up the hill for an easy hike in PV. During the right time of year, the wildflowers are really something special. Then we would head to Kirari West for a late lunch or fun pastry. I love to go to the Point and grab a beverage at Simmzy’s and let the kids go crazy on the grass area. We would most definitely visit one of my favorite pop-up markets, The Come Together Market in Redondo Beach. I would also head to Manhattan Village for a little retail therapy. We have so many amazing things to do here, the options are endless.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I have to give a big shoutout to my husband. He has been incredibly supportive and encouraging along this journey. I lean on him to be on kid-duty when I have an event, and he is always happy to do it. I have been blessed with being busy with events since I launched and he never lets my mom-guilt get in the way of saying yes to something. And I also need to give a shoutout to my close friends who have been my biggest cheerleaders along the way.
