We had the good fortune of connecting with Audrea V Heard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Audrea V, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking has produced so many AMAZING results! The risks associated with my current business have paid off in a tremendous way. In 2019, I decided to expand and grow my business. With that decision came a life altering decision to give up my home and relocate so that I could receive financial support from my family. This caused me to relocate to Houston, TX, where I lived for about a year and half while building and solely focusing on my business. This risk, although taxing, allowed me to focus on my vision, rebranding, and building up my portfolio and customer base. After this time period, I became financially stable, and was able to depend on my business to support me.

After my time of building, I was able to relocate, purchasing my own home, that my business has been able to sustain. If I had not taken this risk, not really knowing what it would produce, I would not have been in position to solely depend on my business and what it had the ability to produce. This risk caused me to put a demand on my vision because I wanted to be a full time entrepreneur and not have to work a 9-5 to be able to sustain myself.

This risk has paid off and I am now reaping the benefits of believing in my business.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My Business is IBG (Inspired By God) Publications, LLC. We are a Publishing, Coaching, Marketing Firm. What sets us apart from other publishers is we offer premier coaching that gives Authors the opportunity to do more than publish their book. We give them tools and resources to help them think beyond completing their book into revenue streams once their book is completed, and we also help with branding. We are set apart because we help authors with the business side of writing books. What am I most proud of and excited about with IBG? Our growth and expansion. Three years ago, I stepped out as the CEO with a whole lot of timidity, coupled with a lack of confidence when I published my first author. I did not offer the services then that we do now, and this is growth within itself. We did not teach authors about branding, marketing and what makes them stand out among other authors. We teach authors to be confident in standing in their individuality.
How did I get to where I am business wise? Perseverance. not giving up at many times when I wanted to do so. Pulling on my inner drive to succeed and see results from my labor. Not afraid to take risks and invest into my vision even when it appeared like it was not producing anything I knew that at some point I would see results from my hard work. Biggest thing I did: changed my mindset from employee to CEO.
Lessons I have learned along the way? Do not allow someone else to put a price ticket on your value based on how THEY see life and what their thought processes are for success. Someone else’s view of success is NOT your view of success and their views could have limitations that you do not desire to participate in. Set your own standard and live up to it!
I want the world to know that just because life gave you bad experiences, those experiences do not dictate your future, My company evolved from the first book I published, which my story of triumph. I set out to help others heal from grief and depression and became a beacon for those who desired to write a book. The premises upon which I built my company was simply helping others. Now we do it on a larger scale. My life was spared from a house fire to give someone else hope that their story matters!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend on a nice car ride, reminiscing on old times, giving us the opportunity to make new memories. We would have lunch or breakfast at their favorite restaurant along the way. Once arriving to the next city, we would sight see the river banks of Lake Erie, visit the Rock and Roll Museum and other landmarks of interest.
We would continue our drive to another city where we would take a boat ride on the Gateway clipper, posing for photos on late night dinner cruise. Spend the night at a nearby hotel, get up the next day, have brunch and head back home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to give a shoutout to my sister n law, who wholeheartedly supported me while I lived with her building my business. She is also a budding entrepreneur. Her name is Shaneka Y. Heard, and she is the owner of Yvonne Shae Beauty.
