We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Meert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
It was self-funded. I used the hustle approach to ensure I had 100% ownership. I used small business loans, friends, and family loans and just gave up things I didn’t need in my life (surfboards, bikes, my car, etc) to ensure the business could move forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started AdvertiseMint as a way to help other companies navigate the crazy world of digital advertising. The platforms change so quickly that I wanted to help bring together a team of experts that would ensure companies are getting the most from their digital ads. In a world where anyone can claim to be an expert, every member of our team is certified by the platforms they manage. This ensures the highest level of performance.

This year has been crazy due to Covid-19. One of the biggest changes is our team working from home instead of inside of our Hollywood office. While I generally prefer having teams work together, we’ve been seeing great results with the work-from-home model, and the team seems happy as it limits their commute and provides them with flexibility throughout the day. Once covid passes, I think we’ll get back on track to building out more creative services and filming capabilities, as that is so critical with Facebook advertising success. We have also been looking into building out additional services, acquiring other agencies, and building out our team. So much is changing in the world right now with businesses, so we’re working to ensure we can help them adapt and succeed in this new normal.

We have focused a lot on becoming a leader in our industry and providing quality information to people searching for our topics. This has really helped our SEO ranking and driven up our page for many of the core terms we want to be ranked for. I also wrote a best selling book on Amazon called The Complete Guide to Facebook Advertising, which has helped our business grow tremendously, as it establishes our company as the leader in our industry. Really, it comes down to a few core principles, First, be the best at what you do. Second, be fast when it comes to making changes or using new technology. Third, be relentless about performance. We treat every dollar that we spend like it’s our own. These core principles have helped us grow our clients and ensure they are getting successful results with their paid media. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife, Maricia Magana, is our VP and an entrepreneur in her own right. We had a baby just before lockdown and then our business moved from our Hollywood office to remote and this was kind of a blessing because we had time with our child. This is time we probably wouldn’t have had if I was in the office. Family is important to any business. We need that support at home.
