We had the good fortune of connecting with Augustin Valencia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Augustin, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I try to maintain a balance of work and my art. There’s been a struggle in the past few years in result to a unsuccessful love interest . Along with working a full-time job in logistics I maintain a steady pace with my art. Balance is constantly shifting based on personal ambitions at the time. As of now I am finding my way back into producing more art.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As of now I work full time in the logistics industry as a generalist. Only working in Marvin engineering in Inglewood. I try not to let this overcome my artistic talent and painting and drawing that’s something that I did study for in college. But unfortunately I need to repay my loans. This is what arched a different direction in my career.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would most likely venture into Melrose at a cafe and then continue the way down sunset to the beach. There’s a lot of thrift stores and coffee shops along the way. There’s also really cool restaurant called car news which is on sunset. Overall the Hollywood scene is overused but it’s home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Jesse Valencia, which is my brother, along with my friend life long friend Blake Moore.
