We had the good fortune of connecting with Ava Masoumi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ava, how does your business help the community?
I am a PhD in microbiology and my company name is Healthy Indoor Professionals. My education and experience in inspecting thousands of buildings for environmental issues such as microbes, chemicals and biological and non-biological air particles have enabled me to help people especially with health problems such as asthma, sinus infection, allergic reactions, chronic fatigue and headaches in Los Angeles county to improve their indoor air quality and improve their health. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, I have been consulting my clients to test their cleanliness of their buildings after Coronavirus cleanup. I have completed the WHO Environmental Cleaning and disinfection training and have offered the City of Los Angeles volunteer work relating to Coronavirus.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Starting my own business and being in contact with a lot of people proved to me once again that people are nice, kind and smart. As I told you in my previous interview in 2017, one of the keys to the success of Healthy Indoor Professionals is my background and passion. I have been completing professional trainings to receive multiple certifications. My everyday job has been learning from each inspection case and vast my knowledge and experience in indoor air quality and its effect on people’s health and training those work with me. During these years, I have learned one of the most common environmental issues in buildings which affect the residents’ health is mold contamination. Mold growth in buildings can cause coughing, headaches, memory loss, severe fatigue, ear and sinus infections, hormone imbalance especially in women, and triggers asthma especially in children. Since I have inspected many buildings for mold, I have gained experience not only in mold inspection and testing but also in finding the source of mold and possible water damages in homes and how they should be fixed. I have been inspecting homes before, during and after mold remediation and not only learned the mold remediation processes but also learned a lot about construction from construction contractors. I also noticed that some of sick people in buildings with mold still experience health issues even after a mold remediation. Therefore I received specific training and certifications for mold remediation, and I started consulting my clients, especially those with severe health issues, for a customized mold remediation process. Healthy Indoor Professionals is an environmental consulting company specializing in air quality inspection and testing mostly in Los Angeles county. We are able to inspect and test air quality of residential, commercial and public buildings. We mostly inspect homes for mold. But I have started a new business, LA Restorations. LA Restorations performs mold cleaning and remediation customized for our clients, and I supervise every job in person. We are proud of our concern and attention to every phone call or email asking questions or guidance. I personally take the time to speak with everyone who contacts us for a free consultation. I believe my companies are unique because I am unique, and my pathway is unique. I customize our services for each client based on their needs and concerns after our conversation and consultation with creative and dynamic solutions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Even during the pandemic, I would take my friend to beautiful beaches such as Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice and Marina Del Rey to walk, bike, kayak, parasail and dine at restaurants that serve food on their patios. I would take them to the botanic gardens and the observatory. We would visit the Hollywood sign and Walk of Fame as well as Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills and capture it all in memorable pictures.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank Angelenos, especially my clients who have referred their family, friends, neighbors, and even their medical doctors and lawyers to me. I am thankful for their trust and their businesses.
