We had the good fortune of connecting with ayelookitsBRADY and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ayelookitsBRADY, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I always tried to be as self sufficient as possible. I just started to apply that to how I invest my time as well. Plus, I wanted to have a way to monetize my passions.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art reflects my comfort level at the time. Whether financially, mentally, physically or romantically, I want the audience to know I feel about something on every track. Growing up, I always found myself having a easier time conveying a message through art. I am a firm believer that somethings just can’t be said in words, you need more. I am where I am today, because I still work on the same values and reasons I started in the first place. I use music to communicate where I’m at in life. While continuing to evolve in my craft and coming across tumultuous times, I try to keep a healthy relationship with my creating process, because I know how delicate things can get. I want people to hear my music and feel connected, feel like they are not alone in whatever they are feeling or experiencing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Columbus has a lot of amazing restaurants so first I would probably take them to the North Market during the day for food, so many different cultures and restaurants in one place. After that I would take them to one of our interactive museums like Otherworld or COSI. For a night out, we would go downtown to an area we call the “Short North” and visit pins, bodega, local bar or fireproof. Honorable mention is Our Bar, but they just closed for renovations. Lastly the morning after we can visit my favorite place for brunch the walrus and hang out in the Columbus Commons park!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my parents! They have been in my corner from the moment they found out that I make music back in high school secretly and I can not thank them enough for how much they have done for me. I also wanted to thank my real friends! We all motivate each other through hard work and consistency, it has been a pleasure watching them evolve over the years.
