Meet Bailey Geyer | Crochet Designer
We had the good fortune of connecting with Bailey Geyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bailey, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been a creative person, and creativity has been a driving force behind everything I do. I wanted to be happy in life and do something that is fulfilling, so I turned my passions into a living.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I learned to crochet when I was 8 years old and immediately tried my hand at making designs up as I went, really aiming to make ‘one of a kind’ pieces. During the pandemic crochet became a big trend, and I was able to share my designs and patterns with thousands of new crocheters. It wasn’t easy setting myself apart from other crochet artists, and took a lot of time and social media managing. I’m most proud of my designs that have been copied by huge companies because that shows the level of reach and interest my work has gained. A lot of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are related to consistency and persistence. You have to keep up creatively and with social media, despite how overwhelming it can feel at times.
I hope BaiRetro can show that anyone with a dream can make it real.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them shopping on Retro Row, hang out at Wood Coffee Co, and then have dinner at Mangia Foglie.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
