We had the good fortune of connecting with Bent Hansen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bent, what inspires you?
The hard work, simplicity and elegance that manifests in genius.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Most proud of the daily innovation and striving to be better each day. This has been a long-term process to learn HOW to have a persistent and consistent desire to make small, often unnoticeable improvements. Each success is dependent on a series of nearly unnoticeable actions, systems, decision and execution. Although it is important and wonderful to enjoy each of the day’s successes, the joy for me is breaking down the individual pieces that made that success a reality. EACH and EVERY one of these pieces is the result of years of experience, training, mistakes, improvements and persistence. Keeping your eye on the horizon – the longer goal – makes this easier.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Day Trip in LA – ride Vespas down Colorado Blvd. through Old Pasadena, cross the famous “suicide” bridge and look to the right and left to see the Arroyo and the Rose Bowl, then Hotel California. Continue thru Eagle Rock and see the local shops. Turn left on Eagle Rock Blvd. Continue thru Atwater. If there’s time, stop for Tacos at Salazar’s. Then turn right on Riverside Drive, left on Los Feliz. Make your way to the Griffith observatory. While here, be sure to get your personal bearings in the universe and examine the scaled solar system that is laid out in the cement. Admire the 6 person statue and remember – many brilliant minds paved the way for who and where we are now. Walk the perimeter and admire the AMAZING basin we live in. Continue on the Vespas down the backside to Korea Town. Soak in the bustle, humanity and smells. Make you way thru downtown to admire the buildings and hit Ramen in Little Tokyo. For the ride home, be sure to see Disney Hall, Grand Central Terminal, Alvera Street, China Town (and it’s many eateries) Hot and spicy wonton soup and Slippery Shrimp at Yang Chow, of course. Make your way home – exhausted. Fulfilled, in touch with the city and humbled by all the different ways to live and LOVE life.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
