We had the good fortune of connecting with Bertinelli Sound and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bertinelli Sound, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
LB : Yes! “The goal is to die with memories, not dreams.” The reason why I love this quote is because I am always dreaming and I strive to make that dream real. I always try to convince myself I can do it, and I give everything I can, sometimes even more than what my body or mind can handle to get it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
GL : Bertinelli Sound is a collective born within the Berklee community with the common goal of producing Music and events with a cross-country mentality. Our objective is sharing talents around the US and the world. We’re both Music producers but we specialize in different areas. Leo is more versed into live sound, record making, record production, mobile recording and mixing, while Gaia is more focused on in-the-box (software-based) production, writing and composition with an interest in commercial writing and film scoring. She’s also an active live bass player and session musician. We offer both analog and digital recording services that we can easily export world-wide, should the client need it. We’re known for our holistic approach to Production. Artists can come to us with just an “embryo” of a song; we’ll take care of the rest and plan the steps to bring it to completion. At Bertinelli Sound, Artists feel free to express their ideas and their music in a creative environment, where they find the support and hands-on professionalism to bring it all together. Whatever you need, we’re here to help you make an impact. Come to us with your ideas and together we’ll make the noise you were meant to make. What makes us the proudest is that we actually manage to achieve what we plan and work so hard for. We don’t necessarily look for fame or success in the first place. What really matters to us is creating a memorable experience for the client without forcing anything, prioritizing the Artist’s creative process. To us, creating a safe and non-judgemental environment is crucial. Our leadership can be summed up like this: We are enhancers not owners. We try to discover, amplify and protect each Artist’s unique voice. We’re not interested in “pre-packaged” products to be thrown into the mainstream market. What we strive to achieve is originality, earnestness and a profound message. That’s what – we think! – sets us apart.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’ve been living in LA mostly in correspondence of the global pandemic so even though we haven’t had the opportunity to explore the city as much as we would we surely have some absolute favorites: – Millcross Café in Culver City. The best spot for a hearty breakfast or brunch in the weekends. The staff is so nice, friendly and the products are extremely well-made and curated. The vibe is absolutely relaxing and we love starting our Saturdays with a hot cup of their amazing coffee and a slice of their sourdough bread. – Delish Hollywood . This is a rather new restaurant but it already won our hearts…and tummies! Delish is in our opinion the best spot if you want to eat quality sushi. Not only are the ingredients so fresh. The execution of the dishes is what really sets them apart. If you haven’t tried it yet, please place an order! They deliver! – Trippet Ranch in Topanga. This is our favorite hike and we are SO looking forward to being back!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely our mentor and great friend, Mike Pope. He not only is an incredibly skilled bass player but is also always looking for ways to learn and expand his (already remarkable) knowledge of Audio production. His creative approach to mixing and mastering is unique and we enjoy so much learning from him and sharing our experience with him. We’re really thankful to have met Mike who’s an exquisite professional and friend!
