We had the good fortune of connecting with Betsy LeFae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Betsy, how does your business help the community?
Imagine if everyone in the world trusted their inner voice or intuition… If this were so we all agree that the world’s politics and economy would look wildly different,
families and children would have so much more,
and our environment would be in an entirely different (healthy) place!
If I can help just one more person learn that TRUST COMES FROM WITHIN, then I’ve done my job!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was a burnt-out social worker and accidentally became an entrepreneur.
Growing up I was REALLY SENSITIVE a really sick kid.
The food I ate could kill me and the air that I breathed could kill me.
I had such bad asthma and allergies that in 5th grade I was deemed legally handicap by the state of New York.
Imagine going to school on Zyrtec, Clairton, and Benedryl all at the same time.
Well, by age 11 I was on 12 different pills to control my asthma and allergies, when all the side effects combined I could no longer read, I couldn’t concentrate, I was a mess! All my life I basically lived like the kid in the bubble.
I was emotionally ignored and was told I would die without health insurance.
Over the years I got romantically involved with people with severe psychiatric disorders and I was cheated on in nearly all of my relationships.
All this resulted in bone-crushing anxiety.
I was confused and didn’t know what the right decision for me was.
I would ask all my friends “Is he cheating?” when I felt something was off, only to have everyone agree that “everything was fine.” or have them lie to me.
I would doubt my ideas when intuition went against logic. I didn’t feel like I was in control.
I feared that I would lose people if I changed. It was gut-wrenching!!!
After 10 years of overgiving as a social worker in Brooklyn
I hit rock bottom.
I was unhappy, anxious and my health started to decline, in part because of the stress. The worst part was: I didn’t trust the future.
I was burnt out and physically sick because I did not know how to handle all of this sadness and shame.
I thought, there has to be another way!
I trusted my first big decision and “retired” from my social work job after 10 years.
Even though I had no idea how I would pay the bills! I had no savings and no real plan. It seemed absolutely ridiculous to many people. Quitting without having a backup plan! But I was actually sick from worry and knew I needed to make a change.
I thought that “There must be something I was missing.”
I sought out answers and got them.
The result: The Trust Yourself Method was born!
In a very short time of using the Trust Yourself Method, I had found my calling in life… (OMGosh, I’m having SO MUCH FUN!)
and trusted myself to double my rent 3 times in a row –
TRUSTING my decision and then getting the needed financial support each time – on time! DESPITE what other people thought and despite the lack of security in my bank account.
Soon after that, all of my life long health issues disappeared.
My lung capacity increased by 20%. And when I went off all my medications my doctors were shocked and asked me what I was doing!
Since then the Trust Yourself Method has helped thousands of sensitive people trust themselves and make amazing life transformations.
Now I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been!
I’ve created a life and business that I love and wake up every day excited about life! I feel satisfied with all my relationships and it seems everyone who knows me benefits from the light I am shining from within!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I were to share with you the best places I’d always start with the FOOD!
I’d say go to Tocaya for lunch and Cafe Gratitude for dinner (I’m partial to organic).
Spend some time at the beach (South of the Venice Pier will get you away from the crowds) and stay for the sunset!
If hiking is your thing, then defiantly check out the mountain trails in East LA, the views are INCREDIBLE!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Do you know who deserves a lot of credit in my success story?
It’s the people who have hurt me, the people who said I couldn’t do it, the people who said what I wanted to do was stupid, crazy, and unsafe!
Each time I have been in a romantic relationship, friendship, or even coaching relationship, and I have given my power away to their thoughts, desires, and directives it has shown me where there is more work to do.
It’s because of these people and experiences that I have become the strong, grounded, and compassionate person I am.
