Meet Bianca Rugimbana | Principal Publicist + Lead Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Rugimbana and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is KEY!
I have operated my own business and agency for over 5 years now, yet I took the leap aka RISK, in July of this year to join forces with an Australian communications agency that is both corporate and consumer public relations focused.
This has been one of the best career moves I’ve made. I’ve been able to incorporate past clients, while also acquiring new business clients, so we can all continue to grow within this industry.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The last time I was interviewed by Shoutout, I was solely focused on BMRPR.com.
Now I’ve joined forces with an Australian based communications agency, We Are Brooklyn (wearebrooklyn.com.au)!
The opportunities for my clients, their current clients and the new business we’re able to obtain has created so many exciting new avenues.
When it comes to this industry of public relations and communications, especially in the entertainment industry, or handling corporate or consumer based PR, nothing comes easily, yet the rewards are wonderful and the journey is exciting!
As I’ve always said, taking a leap of risk is important. It can put you into new rooms that you didn’t expect, it can open your eyes to new opportunities and new ways of learning and understanding the industry.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I work with people around the globe, so I’ll break it down by country, because I love to entertain and take care of my clients and friends.
Australia
Fly into Brisbane, Australia and check into the The Calile Hotel on James Street in Fortitude Valley.
Let’s go to Same Same Restaurant or Bianca Restaurant which is across the road and has amazing food and service.
If you want something cheap but great, grab Ribs and Burgers or get a coffee or sandwich at Jamie’s located on Robertson Street, Fortitude Valley.
If you have time, travel 2 hours north to the Sunshine Coast, to experience the “Michelin Star” food at Mapleton Pub. It’s exquisite!
Pretoria, South Africa
Start with Sun City, because it is the Disney World of the Rustenburg, Johannesburg area and is only 2 hours from Pretoria.
Or when you touch down at Joburg, drive 1 hour to Pretoria and enjoy Menlyn Mall and Parrott’s Restaurant (two of my favorite spots!)
California, USA
Let’s start with Oakland. The whole town slaps! This means I need to get my fix of good soul food at Rob Ben’s restaurant in Emeryville.
From here, I’m taking a flight back to Los Angeles and enjoying the sights and scenes of West Hollywood.
I would then recommend driving to Malibu so you can enjoy the sights and the beach area. Grab dinner at Nobu restaurant while you’re there!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In August of 2023, my father passed away.
In past articles where Shoutout mentioned my accomplishments, I also spoke about how my father attributed to where I am now. Without my father’s advice or words of wisdom, I would not be where I am today.
I’m very proud to have my father’s work acumen, to have the discernment I do, and to continue to excel because of the academic advice I received from him, and the guidance I had from a child to an adult.
My father, Professor Robert Rugimbana (Google him!) was my best friend, and I’m very proud to shout him out as the brilliant academic and father he was to me.
