We had the good fortune of connecting with Bianca Stam and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bianca, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I love food and I love real estate, so for me; Bar Roma was the perfect marriage of the two. I love that people know my restaurant and talk about it or recommend it to their friends without knowing I am one of the owners, it actually makes me super happy.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love acting, that is my favorite medium of art. That is no secret. But I have recently taken up painting for therapeutic reasons mostly but that has stead fast become one of my favorite forms of art as well. At the end of the day I am an artist. I may do business that is outside of the arts, but thank goodness I don’t need to rely on my art for a living, as that would probably drain my soul. Honestly it works out for me, I don’t need a lot of frills- I just want to create beautiful art and leave behind a legacy for my future children.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the east side of LA, being half Chinese that should come as no surprise to anyone! When I get homesick or miss Hong Kong I just grab a little piece of home and make myself feel better. I love hearing cantonese when I walk around…it honestly makes me tear up a little! There are so many beautiful spots in LA. Zuma beach is a favorite, art galleries all over the city, the Getty museum, the hills, soho-house- beauty is everywhere in LA you don’t need to look too hard!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to shout out to my mother for always having my back and trusting me and my process. It’s always been just the two of us, and as long as I make her proud I am happy.
