We had the good fortune of connecting with Blossum Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Blossum, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I have to say, if I didn’t take any risk, I wouldn’t be where I am with my business now. I gave about 2/3 of my savings up and invested it into the start of my business. In the moment, I said to myself “Blossum, it’s all or nothing.”

By the grace of God, not only did I make it back, but I doubled it within a year, met some amazing clients along the way, and was able to broadcast my talent. . I took a leap of faith and followed a passion of mine and it’s been loving me back double time.
The way I tackle the thought of something new and how to prep myself for leaps of faith/risk taking, I always weigh out my options. I mentally prepare myself for the greater good, and also mentally prepare for a disaster. Nonetheless, I am proud for believing in myself so it always makes it easier following through.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ll admit. I am not where I want to be but I know I’m where I need to be. My business isn’t my only source of income, I have daily engagements, and I’m also in school. The hardest thing for me during this process is time management and consistency. What I started doing that helped was getting a calendar that I can keep on me at all times. I take notes in the planner and leave notes on my mirror, or even set reminders on my phone. I in water in a graphic designer who helped me with content and more. I’m learning that time is important and how I use it will determine my success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm, I would say we can go down to Riverside to this GLO Mini Golf | Gaming | Arcade | Virtual Reality center . I’ve been once and it’s a lot of fun if you’re into stuff like that. We can go down to Long Beach and bar hop for good hot wings, pretty drinks (because it’s always about the look ) lol, and lay out on the beach after. I also love the outdoors, so a nice drive down to Malibu and go to Escondido Falls for an amazing view. We can find some nice Roof Tops down in Hollywood. Some of them I’ve tried was Sunset Rooftop. The Moment, The Highlight, and E.P & L.P. They have good food and Sunset has hookah as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
From the very beginning up to this day, my family, my partner, and my friends have all been so supportive. They would send me videos of ideas I could brainstorm off of, recommend locations for me to do mock set up, book me themselves, refer me, some invested items to my business, and even helped me set up or clean up, to name them all would be a long list but to name one, it would be my friend Lauren. She talks to her family and they allowed me to use their home for mock set ups, they’ve booked me themselves, they’ve referred me, and speak life into me and my business. It’s beyond appreciated and I may not thank her enough but this is another thank you 🥰
