We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Glova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is the jelly and the jam. That’s where the magic is. I often reference the time I quit my radio job as the afternoon host on Pittsburgh’s 96.1 Kiss to tour with Wiz Khalifa full time. That was a choice that changed my life forever. When i had to make that decision, my sister offered me the advice of “no risk, no reward.” The risk is is what makes “the movie.” My decision set me up for an adventure of a lifetime. I’ve touched stages around the world and been to places i thought i’d never been. Follow what makes you feel!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve had quite an adventure in my career. It all started in my dorm room at the University of Pittsburgh and it just didn’t stop. College parties. College radio. Radio intern. Club Dj. Radio Mixer and host. TV host, And eventually traveling the world with Wiz Khalifa while also maintaining radio host duties around the country. I moved to several different cities including LA, Philadelphia, Portland and Minneapolis to continue to work in radio and be apart of communities through different music platforms. I think my journey is unique cause it’s just been an honest kid, son of immigrants, with a blue collar work ethic, working his way through over 2 decades of adventures around the world with an emphasis on serving a local music community. I think the main ingredient in all of the success is the enthusiasm to experience with an emphasis on grit. I don’t like to over-romance the hardships of the journey or be a martyr to my success. Yes, there have been hard times and moments in my life where i’m asking asking “what’s next?.” But when you look back you recognized all those things are the reasons that brought you to this point in life. Sometimes painstaking necessary. But today i accept those moments and call them them the “debt to the blessings.” And today the journey is different. I’ve taking a significant role in the cannabis industry. All those years on the road with Wiz growing up in the cannabis community by default has brought me some great wisdom and relationships and applying them to the Las Vegas community at large through my role as DIrector of Partnerships at Jardín Premium Cannabis dispensary. I think there a bit of relief being able to “check a few boxes” in my personal and professional life. But today i’m seeking “peace over perfect.” I’m learning to appreciate the journey and have more fun than over achieving. And being in Las Vegas i’m able to use all my experience and have a place to continue to entertain and impact. It’s bigger than me being “the main character.” I think now its both looking for new things that bring me excitement while helping others on their journey, even if it’s helping them through one crazy night in Las Vegas. I didn’t have many resources growing up. I watched my parents work hard and that was my blueprint. I worked for everything i have and I always will. I hope the next few years i’ll focus more on creative projects. I am excited to put more official music releases out. All in divine time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve only recently moved to Vegas in the last few years so we are nothing short of a good time. I’d mix it up with a some late nights and natural breathtaking scapes. For some good eats in Vegas, Best Friend by Roy Choi, Pizza and a Dole Whip at Red Dwarf and late night Mexican at El Dorado Cantina. We could cut a rug at Pinky Ring by Bruno Mars at the Bellagio, On The Record at Park MGM, or go big at Drai’s Nightlub then of course hit up after hours. As far as some natural scapes i might take them on the day trip to see the Grand Canyon, a Hike Through Red Rocks or a drive through the dessert at night. Some other side quests would be Omega Mart, Fantastic Swap Meet, Arts District and also the late night shady walk through Fremont. And lastly I would take them to Jardín Dispensary for some party favors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my sister, Judy. She’s been my #1 fan, family, and at some point in my life, a financier. She’s my big sister and has seen me stand on every size stage in my life. Her continued support and encouragement has carried me through all the “high and lows.”
