We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandon Pokowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandon, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I can’t imagine doing anything else. I was told when I was little to do the one thing in life you cannot live without. For me, that became acting; it naturally came to me. Just five years ago, I didn’t know where my life was going to take me. I wouldn’t have considered myself artistic. I was the type of person to remain out of the spotlight and draw no attention to myself. A switch flipped once I discovered acting. It brought out a new person that I enjoyed being and a feeling of passion that I never felt before. I’m happy to have the opportunity to pursue what I love and work with other creative artists that share similar interests.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
With everything that I do as an actor, I will always try to achieve reality; so I can find the truth in each moment. I need to know my character inside and out. I put myself in a different state of mind and feel their desires and frustrations. A big thing for me is physicality; I like to study mannerisms. Get yourself into a routine and do it just the way your character would. Transforming into characters is essential for me. I don’t feel like I’ve dedicated myself enough unless I do it. You got to put your whole heart into it. If I put the time in, I’m going for the most immersive experience every time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I currently reside in Burbank, the media capital of the world. I live down the street from Warner Bros. and Walt Disney Studios, so a quick drive around the block shouldn’t disappoint anybody from out of town. There are great dining spots nearby; two of my favorite morning go-to’s are Bea Bea’s for a traditional breakfast or Porto’s Bakery & Cafe to experience the best Cuban baked goods in the city. Later in the evening, San Fernando Blvd. in Downtown has great shopping centers, restaurants, bars, and nightlife to enjoy. Too much to explore in detail. We would go crazy! I’m big on exercise and a believer in doing 10,000 steps every day, and I’m sure anyone would be up for a hike in the Hollywood Hills around the Lake Hollywood Reservoir. A great place for pics of the Hollywood Sign for visitors. I lived in Hollywood for about four years. We would have to take a trip down the walk of fame, Dolby, Chinese theatre, and hotel Roosevelt on the itinerary. I have way too much history over there. However, my absolute must-stop places are Griffith Park, Universal Studios/City Walk, Santa Monica Beach, The Grove, Rodeo Dr., Queen Mary, and Grand Central Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shoutout is for my high school drama teacher, Samantha LaCroix. Without her, I can’t say that I would be where I am right now. The opportunities for me to perform and the encouragement she provided me for years in class helped shape my future forever. Ms. LaCroix, I’m so grateful for you and those experiences. I haven’t thanked you nearly enough. I hope you see this and remember all the great days and fun memories we shared along with all the students you inspired to follow their dreams. Thank you!
