Meet Breanna Rodriguez

We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanna Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breanna, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risks are something you have to be willing to put yourself in whether it be foreign or nerve wracking. Those risks may be one of the biggest blessings to come out of life. Choosing to get into the beauty field and become a service provider is a huge risk took. I was always interested in the beauty field, when I was in college I grew more of a larger interest and studied business. Choosing the career I have now was very shocking to most and even myself at the time. I was so used to being surrounded and told I had to follow a career with stability. I did not know any entrepreneurs, so really betting on myself to start this business was a risk. It was a risk I was willing to take because of how much support I’ve always had in my life. I also was willing to bet everything on myself because I am aware of who I am, I constantly am overcoming obstacles, extremely ambitious and thrive off of being creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Oddly enough I got into this career because of the pandemic, I was a very lost college student who was trying to find themselves and figure out what career path to follow. As a little girl I always used to do my own nails, I was very expressive growing up and one of the ways I loved to express myself was through nails. I remember having crackle polish, bow tie nails, swirl designs, etc. I remember it used to be odd to most kids that I had such funky nails but it was me being me. During Covid, I had lost my job and convinced myself I could just do my nails at home. Having so much free time I would do such random designs to pass the time. My mom, sisters and family let me practice on them, I started to become comfortable working on other people and became more confident in my craft. I then chose to go to beauty school because this is something I wanted to pursue professionally and long term. This is not an easy career to get into, there is so much that happens behind the scenes and I’m grateful to have studied Business Administration in college. I’ve learned that there will always be ups and downs like anything in life but your passion and drive will be the reason you will succeed. I have improved tremendously since I started doing nails years ago, it’s not always easy to keep up with so many trends. I feel as though my brand is so different because I express myself through my art and craft. When I was young I went through a lot of hardships and used painting/drawing to help distract me. Now I use it to help improve my career, artistic abilities and express myself in a positive way.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank and recognize all those around me who love and support me. The reason I am who I am today is because I have been so blessed to be surrounded by a loving community. My family supports and motivates me in every aspect, they help me make the impossible possible. As much as I am hard on myself, they are also the reason I am kind to myself. Family is a huge part of my life and I’m grateful be given the one I have. Friendships I have grown through this venture are also my family, getting into this field is so rewarding. You come across so many different people who have experienced different walks of life but are still so kind and supportive to me. I absolutely am rich in love, and I want to thank anyone/everyone who supports me and my business. You all make my days brighter and allow me to be so creative which I will be forever thankful for.
