We had the good fortune of connecting with Breanne Guy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breanne, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind both my success and that of my brand, which still is something I’m continually working on is not giving up. I moved to California in 2016 and my transition and road has been far from easy, yet I never gave up. I feel when you have a dream, goal, or vision you can’t let roadblocks and detours make you give up. My brand when I first released it wasn’t anything at all what i wanted. I learned alot about myself from building this brand. It made me a better person. It’s constantly evolving just like I am. As an artist and creator I realize I am my brand and it is me. I love everything about it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of my first book I wrote and released in early 2020 entitled ” Level of YOU ” , which was me giving information back to up and coming artists. I dealt with alot in my transition in finding my voice and who I was as a creator and financially and i didn’t want anyone else to feel lost like I did. The times I did feel Lost. I overcame alot of challenges especially in moving to LA my first few years. Having to juggle work with being a creative is never easy. I learned to have patience and foundation in all you do, always. I sacrificed alot for my brand, even lived out my car at one point to invest more. That’s Los Angeles for you though, lots of people have done that. The way I see it nothing great in this lifetime was ever achieve by not taking risk and sacrificing for what you truly want. I have no regrets.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take a great friend to San Pedro.. by the Korean bell of friendship it is one of my favorite spots ever! It brings me so much peace standing by the ocean and the views are amazing. Food places definitely poppy and rose dtla , and the grove is always a fun outting for friends and family. Maybe even a drive to Santa Barbara and Big Sur!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mentor Grace Mayfield, she has been in business over 40 years back in my hometown. She Is a really wise woman and has definitely opened my eyes about alot of things in life. Between the ages of 17 and 23 I learned alot working along side of her.
