Meet Brian Masjedian | Fabric Enthusiast & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Masjedian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
This may be a bit cliche but I was avid sewist and at the time, was in a desperate search for an online fabric store that I could rely on to have sustainable and eco-friendly fabrics. Of course, this fueled me to start APC Fabrics about 6 years ago. The beginning was tough but I am delighted at the way APC has progressed and has finally found its place in being a reliable supplier for sustainable and eco friendly fabrics.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There is not one online fabric store that offers the same selection of fabrics as APC does. Because we value sustainability and eco-friendliness, our decision to bring a specific fabric to our inventory has a long and extensive process to determine whether or not its worthy enough to be listed in our inventory. Lyocell, better known as Tencel is what we are most known for. We have one of the largest, if not the largest selection of tencel fabrics. Especially with a rise in the need for sustainable fibers, Tencel is by far the most sustainable one for its process as well as the way its sourced.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely a road trip to Oregon. The long drive from the LA coast to Oregon is something that I think everyone should experience. The moment you pass the border into Oregon, there is a HUGE difference. Trees, lakes, nature — all of it is completely different than what your typically used too. It was a powerful experience for me.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family. You know starting a business is never easy but if you are passionate about what you are doing, it makes the process fun, exciting, and extremely rewarding. When I work, its not something I dread but something I look forward too. Having a support system like my family allows me to focus on the future head because things like encouragement and positivity gives you the push you need to succeed. I am blessed for my family for what they have done for me to get to where I am at today.
