Meet Brian Viveros | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Viveros and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, why did you pursue a creative career?
It’s all I really know, it’s all I ever really wanted to do, create and have a creative career and make a name for myself. I’m still doing that to this day. I’ve been exhibiting since 97′ and learned a lot about the art world and happy to say I’ve been running my own art business for a very long time. As a kid I had a wild imagination and creative energy that kept my mind very busy. Mostly, all of my childhood fixations, my open-mindedness to fantasy, and my Hispanic upbringing shaped me. I always believed I could make a living in the arts. You have to believe – I had no formal training or schooling, just an intense passion and drive to teach myself and know I could get there. You have to be focused and believe in what you’re doing, not what others are doing. I’m happy with what I’ve achieved thus far in my artistic career but I always say there’s so much more to learn and many new things I want to do. One of them being a personal project I’m working on right now. Having an art career never sleeps, it never stops, its’ like you’re possessed and it haunts you,,ha! it’s an addiction for me, not just in painting or drawing but in everything i do, whether it be making films, personal projects, building a brand, taking a chance, trying new things or growing your business, it’s all part of having a creative career and keeping that passion alive. You gotta keep going and don’t be afraid to take chances, ya never know til you take a chance.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m known for my fictitious Dirtyland world of kick-ass women who dominate and exude strength and power. It’s an alternate Dirtyverse I’ve created filled with iconic female warriors relishing post-victory rule. This Dirtyland army has been growing strong for over 20 years now and that makes me happy
What sets me apart from others is the women I paint are very signature in their look and style sporting my iconic helmets and headgear. I paint them portrait style so for most of them the story I have to tell is from the shoulders up – they are the anti-pinup girl, they are the survivors, the ones that have been through it all. I think this is what makes my work very important, unique and signature and touches so many different people. They’re not that happy pin-up girl they’re the ones that have been in a fight standing tall staring serious into your eyes saying ‘Bring it!’
Right now I’m in the process of working on my film and I’m beyond excited about that!
I got here by being super driven and super focused. It wasn’t easy, along this journey was a lot of bumps in the road, rejection letters and tough times. You gotta paint a picture in your mind, where you want to be and how do I get there and just don’t stop. That might mean sacrificing a lot other things in life but you have stay focused, stay in it and most importantly believe in what you’re doing. Build on something that represents you in your work. I always take creating very serious and have made my art a business which is also an art form in itself. I’m still searching and climbing that ladder learning new things. That’s what being an artist is all about constant learning and growing
I want the world to have a shot of tequila with me really – ha! but on the real, just know that you can make a career of your art and don’t let people tell you different. I’ve been around a long time so I think the world & my fans and people that know me have a good understanding of my art and what my work is all about ‘Woman of Power’. So I hope if anything people can feel the strength in the characters I create and everything I do
Much love and as always Stay Dirty My Friends

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
