Meet Brice Gelot | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brice Gelot and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brice, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursue my careers because first photography is for me a passion for self-expression, for the desire to inspire and a way to evoke emotions in others. Capturing candid moments on the bustling streets allows me to convey my unique perspective of everyday life, igniting creativity and touching the hearts of those who view my work.
For instance, my photographs of people immersed in their daily routines, from rough areas to poor neighbourhood, this project is the reason I started taking photos and is essentially my life’s work. I shoot the world as it is as nothing’s more interesting than reality. I aim to evoke a sense of authenticity and connection. Through my work, I strive to capture the raw emotions and diverse experiences of people, creating a visual narrative that resonates with viewers and encourages them to see the world from a different perspective.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a photojournalist I stay busy by constantly seeking new opportunities to capture meaningful moments and express my creativity by doing documentary everywhere around the world. My primary goal is to capture the truth about the street culture. I aims to reveal the raw reality of life on the streets, documenting and portrait photographs of people on the margins of society and the daily challenges they endure.
This involves working on my various series and side projects, whether it’s events, or commercial assignments, each requiring a unique approach and vision. I also dedicate time to preparing exhibitions. Additionally, I stay engaged in the photography community, networking with fellow photographers, attending workshops.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Trejo’s Tacos or anything related to mexican food, 100%

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course, I am nothing without all the people I photographs, I am thankful my work inspire others. My passion for photojournalism is fueled by the belief that images can drive social change, sparking vital conversations about pressing issues. I strives to raise awareness, educate, and foster intercultural dialogue by illuminating the disparities between disadvantaged neighborhoods and other communities. My main mission is to break down stereotypes, promote deeper understanding, and address significant issues such as poverty, humanitarian crises, social justice, and human rights.
