We had the good fortune of connecting with Britt Hendrix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Britt, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
One of the quotes I keep top of mind is very simple- “Do It Afraid.” by Joyce Meyer. I have to keep it top of mind because so much about being an entrepreneur and a business owner can be, if we’re being honest, terrifying! When the business is your baby, it’s your job (and yours alone) to make sure it’s nurtured and growing as it should. Nobody else is going to care about it like you do! And with that responsibility can oftentimes come a lot of fear. If you let it, that fear can keep you from making the necessary steps to keep growing. For example, if you need to start posting on social media about your business, fear might tell you, “But what are people going to think?” or, “What if nobody likes it?”. When those fears and worries come, I just say to myself, “I’m gonna do it anyway. I’m gonna do it afraid.”, because I know that those thoughts aren’t logical, they’re simply fearful, and if I listen to them, they’ll keep me from moving forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Bien in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. I had thought about starting an agency for so long, but when it came down to it, I was afraid to make the leap. After all, I was only managing two influencer talent at the time and it was not enough for a sustainable income. I’m pretty sure this is the thought process that many entrepreneurs go through! But I strongly believed that there was space in the industry for Bien. I had seen too many of my influencer peers work with managers, never quite satisfied with their services. I wanted to create an agency that put their clients first, and that focused on good people doing good work. It was that simple! The word “Bien” means well and good in Spanish and French, hence the name of my agency. I never wanted to forget my initial purpose for starting, so it had to be in the name.

Starting Bien has been a rewarding experience, but definitely not without setbacks and tough lessons learned. One of the biggest lessons I’ve had to learn was one my brother Ben taught me. He said, “Don’t chase money. It’ll just keep running away.”. Sometimes, opportunities come your way that might be great, but they also might not align with your company and vision. It’s important to be able to use discernment, and ultimately be able to say no to certain opportunities that will distract from your company’s direction.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot in LA is definitely Menotti’s coffee shop in Venice. It’s a tiny little shop right by the boardwalk, and it serves the BEST Spanish latte. Seriously. Order it to-go, then go sit on the beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s safe to say that I never would’ve started Bien without the support and encouragement of my family. I started out in the social media industry working in-house with my sister-in-law Sazan and my brother Stevie. During my five years with them, they showed me the ropes of the industry, and more importantly, showed me what I was truly capable of doing. They opened my eyes to so many possibilities, and when it came time to take the leap and start Bien, they were so supportive and happy to watch me fly. Next, I want to shout out my parents (OG Hendrix entrepreneurs)! They’ve been with me during every single high and low, and have been there to pick me back up when I felt like giving up. Next, my brother Ben. He’s an incredible entrepreneur himself, and has given me such valuable insight and encouragement along the way. I really look up to him. Lastly, my sister Grace and her husband Jonny for helping me see the true value in my work. My family is the best!
