We had the good fortune of connecting with Brooke Capozzoli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted my chosen career to be creative and have something to do with people. I love the connections and the moments shared between loved ones, and I love to think outside of the box! I’m very close with my family and always knew that I wanted a career that would allow me to be home and share in all of those moments with my own family and kids someday.

When I began my business, I was just 16 years old taking high school art and photography classes. When my sister got engaged, I took her and my now brother in law’s engagement photos and I immediately fell in love with photographing love. Watching two people come together to share so much love and joy and dreams together quickly became my passion. I loved watching couples come together in marriage, and then take that love and turn it into a family. Even more so, I loved showing them how beautiful and special their love and story is through imagery! Capturing all of the big moments, the little moments, and the tiny in between moments that make up a family’s legacy and is such a blessing to be invited into!

When deciding that documenting family legacies was what I wanted to do with my life, I knew that this career would allow me to follow my dreams of being creative, working and connecting with people, and would give me the flexibility I would desire to have in my schedule when the time comes to have my own little family. This career is my passion and fills me with so much joy! Every day, I get to work with amazing families and children and bring smiles to their faces! I am able to help them look back on big moments in life, and help people see themselves as beautiful as I see them. I am able to help pass down family legacies and teach children about where they come from, while also letting them feel and visualize how loved they are!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Brooke Tobin Photography specializes in vibrant, intimate and timeless imagery for those who value their marriage and family above all else!

From proposal to parenthood – you can trust that the documentation of your legacy is in skilled hands. I photograph all my weddings and portraits using as much natural lighting as possible, as well as an “unposed” method to keep the focus on you and your loved ones. From the traditional photos your grandmother hangs on her refrigerator, to the images that will make your own grandchildren feel like they were there when your legacy began, to the moments in between that otherwise go unnoticed – I am your girl!

The journey to where I am today in my career was definitely not easy! It has come with a lot of trial and error, learning and growing, but I am so thankful for it! I’ve become such a better artist and business woman because of each and every situation I’ve been in – good or bad – and I definitely wouldn’t be as far as I am without those experiences. I am so thankful for each and every one of my mentors and teachers, my clients, family and friends – all who have helped me become who I am today and have encouraged me to follow my passion.

When my business was only a few years old and I was still getting my footing in the photography world, I moved across the country from Chicago to Los Angeles with my husband, Mike, and essentially had to begin my business from the ground up again. It was definitely a struggle to get situated in a new location with no connections, but after getting myself out there, meeting some amazing people and getting to photograph in so many different locations, I was able to learn, practice and hone in on my craft so much. If there’s anyone out there starting over, don’t be afraid to get out there and meet people! I wish I had done it a bit sooner than I did!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely have to take them around Los Angeles for some great food! My husband and I love all kinds of food, but some of our absolute favorite local South Bay restaurants we frequent would include HopSaint Brewery (in Torrance), Sausal (in El Segundo), The Bottle Inn (Hermosa Beach), and Thai Rhama (in Torrance)! We would definitely have to hang out at the beach, take a walk through Abbot Kinney Blvd., go for a wine tasting, and go for a hike!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to give a ShoutOut to my husband, Mike, my family and friends – thank you for always being my biggest supporter, encouraging me to follow my dreams, and for always putting up with my constant photo-taking!
