We had the good fortune of connecting with Brow Queen LA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brow Queen, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I truly believe that everything we experience in life is setting us up for The Next Chapter.  Even if you’re in a job you don’t exactly love going to everyday or a career you spend years growing but you just don’t feel it’s going anywhere, The Next Chapter could be right around the corner!

I had a lot of those moments when I worked for retail companies. I had been working for cosmetic retail companies for a number of years and just felt demotivated working long shifts and not making a decent income.

However, working at makeup counters teaching people beauty tips everyday and getting to help people learn, really kept me going!  I decided to look at these long hour shifts as a sort of paid apprenticeship.  I got to learn how successful cosmetics companies run and how much goes on behind the scenes such as product development, stock, money managing, achieving targets, etc.  Essentially, I learned all of the things necessary to run a business.

One thing I loved about working for Charlotte Tilbury is not only does she want you to be great make up artist’s, she also encourages each artist to be their very own business woman.  I learned the in’s and out’s of the cosmetic industry and that has really helped me succeed.  As I flash forward several years after leaving Charlotte Tilbury and started my own business, I realized that I had applied everything that I loved about working for them and other cosmetic companies and subtracted everything that I wasn’t a fan of.  I really enjoy being able get to give every client my time and expertise and the outcome is very rewarding!

The idea behind Brow Queen LA isn’t that I am the Brow Queen of Los Angeles, but rather that everyone that leaves Brow Queen LA is a new born Brow Queen!  Each customer is a new woman with a bounce of confidence in her step. Who is the real Brow Queen? She’s the hard working mother, the girl that survives every battle in life, that boss working hard everyday, and she’s also a grandmother.  The fact of the matter is that every woman can be a new born Brow Queen!  When I put together Brow Queen LA, I designed it for the powerful woman, the everyday woman, and these are the women I get the pleasure of working with.  I truly believe that PMU is the future of make up and when Brow Queens wake up in the morning with their brows perfectly groomed, I feel that I have empowered them the ability to conquer the world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still a kid at heart so I would probably say Disneyland. I also enjoy The Grove for some shopping and Paradise Cove in Malibu where you can watch the dolphins swim while enjoying a nice cocktail on the beach.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I come from a very loving and supporting family. Growing up my mother always taught me to believe in myself, to follow my dreams, and most importantly the power of God, Prayer, Visualization and Belief.  You really can’t help anyone or live a good life if you don’t believe in or love yourself.

Although I do struggle at times with positive thought as I am sure a lot of people do, I’m very blessed that my loved ones always believe in me and love me, even on the days that I don’t believe in me.

I never leave my bed or fall asleep without thanking God for another day of Blessings. Several years ago my mother bought me the book “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne. When I read The Secret I started seeing everything like a game as if the world was my catalogue and everything in it was within reaching distance of the Universe I existed in.  I started playing the Law of Attraction game with something as small as visualizing a big sale at work or just some good news. I would go to work and look at expensive clothes on the shop floor as if I were there on a shopping spree. Over the years I got more into it I started creating vision boards visualizing what I would like to achieve.  I’ve got to say it works!!  I try to live in a mindset that “everything always works out for me.”
