We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan & Greta Brandon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan & Greta, why did you pursue a creative career?
Bryan: I was very interested in cinematography since college, took some classes in Pasadena City College (that sadly I did not finish due to financial issue). Got to try my friend’s camera and I enjoyed it very much. I saved some money and my Dad helped me to chip in some money to buy my first ever camera. Starting my photography journey from landscape photography, then to urban city, exploring downtown LA and cityscapes. I wanted to learn more especially shooting portraiture, so I attended photo meet community in LA and area to learn more how to photograph people. Helped my church friends to take their wedding photos. The fact that people can see a photo and take them back to the memory/ moment where it happened is very fulfilling.
Greta: I knew early on, since I was in college, that I love doing creative work. I became a Biology major, because my parents wanted me to work in healthcare. Coming from an Asian household, I have to be a professional (doctor) to be “successful” and secured in life. But I always enjoyed drawing, I design, I created digital art during my free time, I took a class in photography, I took 2 years course in fashion design after graduated college. When I first bought my DSLR camera, my goal is to learn how to capture photos from my travel. One day, my friend asked me to capture his engagement photo. I watched every single Youtube video about how to photograph engagement shoot. It was a rewarding experience for me. I think that’s when I truly fell in love with portrait photography, and I knew then that I want to pursue this career.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
When we started Bryte Moments in 2019, our goal is to photograph weddings and people who are in love.
Here’s what we think are the things that sets us apart with other creatives:
1) We value our relationship with our clients. We genuinely want to be friends with our couple. We want to know their story and this way; we can tell their story and really show their personality.
2) We bring in unique perspectives by working together as a team. Bryan’s photographs are known for its bold colors, unique, amazing composition, editorial look while Greta brings in a feminine, softer approach for brides with her creative direction.
3) Our collaborative approach with our clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First, we would love to take them to one of our favorite places near our home in Orange County, Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach. The hiking trail has amazing view of the ocean, the beach is not too crowded so it’s nice to chill and watch the sunset. Anaheim Packing District is another must visit. It has wide variety of good foods, drinks and dessert. We love exploring nature so a visit to Johua Tree is a must, and we’ll take them around Palm Sping.
Bryan’s personal favorite is Koreatown. Oakobing, Sun Nong Dan are just some of his favorite place to ear are Tsujita, Wanderlust Creamery, Somi-Somi. We are very much foodies so eating good food is a love language we share with our loved ones.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to shoutout our family and close friends that has been supporting us since the beginning of our photography career. Their immense support by sharing our work and promoting our business when we just first started, had been huge part of our growth.
We also would like to thank photography community groups like SLR Lounge & Photo Biz Xposed. We always try to find a way to connect with other creatives and network. These groups have been amazing in sharing lessons, tips and workshops that helped us improving our craft and honing our skills.
Lastly. we would like to thank God for His guidance and blessings throughout our journey. He led us to meet amazing clients and vendors who love and value our work. We found purpose in what we do and hopefully, we can continue to glorify Him through our work
