We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryan Ricci and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bryan, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work and life balance is blurry and constantly changing. I try to reevaluate every week or so.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I currently make abstract paintings. I’m influenced by physical and experiential environments. I work on raw linen and create paint mixtures using pure pigment and mixed media, including various materials such as sand and resin. I employ traditional painting techniques along with original applications. This sets me apart form other painters. This way of painting has opened many doors of possibility and is ongoing. Being in a creative career is not easy, but engaging on a daily basis. It takes self discipline and confidence which ebbs and flows. What sticks with me is to do something you truly believe in and gives your life meaning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d take them surfing, it’s my favorite activity. I’d specifically bring them to Malibu, parts are still beautiful and natural. However, my favorite place in LA is my home. I love cooking and drinking wine. Maybe a Clipper game!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! My wife is the most important person in my life. I learn from her every day.
