We had the good fortune of connecting with Bryce Hodges and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bryce, how do you think about risk?
I feel like risk-taking is an important step towards being successful. If you don’t take risks and are scared of failing then you will never learn from your failures or mistakes. The greatest risk is not taking one. When you’re willing to throw everything on the line, that’s when life takes on a whole new dimension. With taking risks you have to break the routine and most people are scared to do so. People go through life playing it safe and this is like a living death. the only way you can become your best; you have to take risks and challenge yourself I know many people may view me as being successful. I may make it look easy but people also don’t know about the failures, losses, and risks I’ve taken to help me become the man, entrepreneur, and businessman I am today. Everybody wants the prize but nobody wants to pay the price. In my opinion, risk-taking can help you grow as a person by allowing you to learn from your mistakes. Staying humble and open-minded in order to succeed and reach that next level is key.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of building my business from the ground up and expanding my network. That is one of many achievements and I am still accomplishing more over time. This journey was not easy at all. It involved a lot of risk-taking, sacrifice, and failure. However, being humble, staying patient, and assuring myself that it would be worth the wait kept me going. My family, brothers and “secret admirer” (LOL) definitely kept me above water when times were tough. Some lessons I learned over time were to know your worth, all money isn’t good money, protect your energy, stay humble and be patient because God knows what he has planned for you. I want the world to know that Jvisuals312 LLC is a black-owned media production company that provides creative services such as music videos, commercials, campaign content for major brands, etc. My goal is to bring exposure to up-and-coming African-American recording artists, creative directors, content creators, actors and actresses. I share knowledge and connect independent creators within the music and entertainment industry. I employ men and women of color under my company to help with projects for independent artists, major brands, companies, and labels. Using my platform of 52,000+ subscribers on YouTube and other social media platforms to push creatives of color is a blessing. I have been able to help these underground creatives reach more than 25 million people.
I am a 23-year-old entrepreneur and college graduate who moved to LA with a camera and a dream. I moved to Los Angeles 2 years ago because I didn’t want to go back to Chicago. I wanted to experience something different and set an example for my siblings and mentees. I want to be an example for my community by letting them know that it doesn’t matter where you come from. As long as you’re motivated and have a passion for what you do, you will be successful. I strive for success not only for myself but for my family and the community. I currently mentor creators younger and older than myself, giving those a chance to get experience within the film industry and build connections that will take them onward and upward to new levels.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting the area I would first recommend some good brunch spots like The Waffle and Bru’s Wiffle. Some fun things to do in LA are ATV riding, hiking, visiting the beach, and the Hollywood sign. Afterward, I would suggest going to Joey DTLA, Bossa Nova, or Castaway for a nice intimate dinner. The nightlife in LA is pretty cool as well. A nice club, hookah bar or lounge in the Hollywood area is always a good vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would like to thank my biggest supporters who are my family, friends, the Jvisual312 team, and all my followers. It’s difficult to single out individual people who have helped me throughout my career. Just like the saying “it takes a village to raise a child”, I feel like It takes a dedicated team of individuals and supporters to help build a business from the ground up.
