We had the good fortune of connecting with Cahlik Douglas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cahlik, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I decided to pursue my creative career simply because there is no limit to this. I carry on a legacy from a mentor who taught me some meaning of life. Photography is all about the details the narratives playing in a photograph.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Something I am always excited on and it gets my blood flowing is the ability to do what I do and be a photographer. What sets me apart from others not many people started photography as early as I did & not many photographers at come from a background like i did in the heart of Los Angeles. I wasn’t born with the silver spoon in my mouth I had to struggle and figure it out and still counting, of from years of practice and coming this far but still learning to improve because we are forvever evolving. I got to where I am today simply by going out and putting the work to take solid photographs you would need practice and understanding photography I wouldn’t call myself a professional until I completely mastered my craft that is the ideal definition. Lessons I learned along the way as a photographer you have to be able to adapt whatever throws at you sometimes it may not be exactly what you want I believe in working what you got and winging it
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Things I would recommend, well in the state of California is many things you can do or what it has to offer, Me personally i’m very simple i’m more of a explorer. I would indeed check out restaurants within the LA region got some solid ones or even the amusement parks I mean California has many things to do.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I shout out to all the people who helped me and whom I worked with that help me elevate my work and my practice weather you are another photographer, stylist, or make up artist even the agencies that blessed me with opportunities to excel. I learned many things along the way involving my career and even my personal life.
