We had the good fortune of connecting with Cailyn Peddle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cailyn, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
As an actor, I feel like there needs to be depth to every performance I give, which means I need depth as a person as well. I love philosophy and nature and just really thinking about and taking in the world around me. I also look up to so many incredible actors that have given some amazing advice. My favorite that I have heard from multiple different people is, “What is meant for you will come to you”, and I whole-heartedly believe that. No matter how long the journey takes, you will end up where you are meant to be. That’s what keeps me going.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think that passion drives everything. I am so deeply passionate about acting that I know I will get to where I aspire to be one day if I keep working hard. I am proud of myself in a lot of ways, I have worked so intently these past three years to understand the industry, train, and find myself opportunities. I am so grateful for every chance I get to do what I love. This business is not easy by any means, but as Chekhov said, “The actor has to burn inside with an outer ease”. The amount of time and effort put into this career or any career is rarely seen or discussed. The world only hears of your successes and not of the failures and setbacks. I believe that confidence and determination are key to standing out and having the wherewithal to withstand the many trials and disappointments that come with any path, but especially the performing arts.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am actually from the New York City area! If I had a friend coming from LA to visit NYC, I would probably avoid the stereotypical tourist attractions and take them to as many museums as possible (I love museums) and just take a walk and take in all there is to see. Maybe we could do something touristy like going to Rockefeller Plaza or see a Broadway show… there is just so much to do!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I honestly can’t think of one specific person or group. So many people have helped me and inspired me so far. I really owe a lot to everyone who has said to keep going and told me to dream big, that anything could be possible through hard work and time. Last week I was on set and the director of the project told me that I should continue pursuing a career as an actor and that once she saw my audition, she knew I was the one. I am still very much at the beginning of my journey, but these little pieces of advice and encouragement I have received so far mean everything to me.
