We had the good fortune of connecting with Doctor Yizzle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Doctor, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
What is real will prosper. We are all humans therefore in anything we do, we will feel the urge of wanting to give up. Those are the days that will test your devotion to whatever it is you are striving for and those are the days that you should try harder than you would on a “good” day. This will build repetition to your days and allow you to be able to keep going no matter what happens. If you can work on days where you are just not “feeling” it, then nothing should be able to stop you. This creates an sanctuary in your mind where you become more efficient on whatever it is you are pursuing. Referring back to my first sentence, if it happens that you do give up, then it is not what you are destined to do and that is completely okay. You will find what is “real” to you and it will not be possible to give up. However, this goes to say, we are all humans and no matter who you are, you will feel like giving up. If you have people who are following your “work” then think about that. These are people that believe in you and your work and this thought is what personally keeps me going on my bad days. There are people who believe in you more than you believe in yourself. Insane, huh? What if it becomes something better than you imagined?
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a recording artist who produces, engineers, writes, performs his own music. As I continuously said in my past, what sets me apart from others is my energy. The number one element I incorporate into my music is my own raw energy and emotions. I want the listeners to be able to feel what I was feeling at the time I made the song and if I am able to do that, then I can confidently say that I made a “good” song. I am the most proud about being able to come this far on my own. Obviously, I had my team and supporters who were able to give me the moral support at my lowest days and doing things such as artwork, filming, editing, etc. What I mean by doing it on my own is that I never relied on anyone for help and learned how to make music all on my own. I never folded to get a cosign from a “famous” artist or chasing the “fame”. The only thing I’ve been chasing is making the best music possible and to make a positive impact on the people who do come across my music. I genuinely care about the music and I see that many people in our generation are making music for the wrong reasons. I am the most excited about reaching people positively and seeing how much my music can impact people. Additionally, I am beyond excited to release my clothing company in the future. Fashion has always been a passion of mine so be on the look out for that. To get where I am today was not easy where it took years of pain to get here. This is more than 10,000 hours of work put into my craft and I continuously could say that I still have that same fire (if not, even more) I had since the beginning. I’ve learned what genuine energy is throughout my journey and more about myself. As I grow with my music, I am growing as a human being as well and my supporters are witnessing that. Putting my head down and tunnel visioning to get what I want is how I have been functioning. Everyone will experience hate, however it is about transferring that energy into fuel for your passion. I do this for people and to help them through their painful times. Music is such a beautiful gift given to us and everyone should experience it to the extent of the way I do. Believing in yourself is so important when you embark on a journey such as mine. If you do not believe in yourself, how can you expect people to believe in you? There are the rare cases where there are people on this planet that will believe in you more than you believe in yourself and that itself should give you the motivation to always continue because you can’t let them down. This is not about me. I want the world to know that. I want the world to know that I’ve done things my own way and that you guys can literally do anything you want. Everyone has a gift in this world. Explore it and share it with the world to spread positivity. Even when all odds are against you, you will find a way and it will happen to you, however you want, as long as you believe in it and yourself. But it all starts with YOU.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say K-town for some good food. There are really good views out here if you just search for them. I do not know many spots because I don’t go out that much. But, just explore parks because there are beautiful spots that looks over the city. But honestly, just surround yourself with good people and you will have the most fun out here.
