We had the good fortune of connecting with Cam Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cam, what do you want your legacy to be?
There is lots of joy in knowing that I work for myself mainly, and that I like my own work. It is fun for me to draw and I think people can sense that, based on what I’ve been told. It is very true! I have lots of fun drawing and having ideas, and it is all I really need in life, and people seem to understand that based on how I draw. I hope they remember how they feel when they see one of my drawings.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the most excited to leave school and start putting my work on jigsaw puzzles. There was a revelation last year that my pieces have a good amount of detail for that sort of format, so that’s what I’ll be pursuing aside from my own fine art practice. I actually tried to do a Kickstarter but unfortunately, it did not go through. Nothing to be done except continue really. That usually solves most problems. I think I will also try to market myself more, there is a slight fear that I’m underselling myself, and I think it’s because I don’t want to ever come off as too big. Drawing will always be the main priority, but I think now that I am out of school, I can put more time into other passive projects and bigger ideas that are easier for people to absorb.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I think Huntington Library is cool, anywhere with flowers in California just seems like a good answer. Things smell good around here and I think isolation is sometimes underrated, but I think having flowers be your friends is a good way to fill your eyes. My friend likes to go to the Getty Villa and that reminds me of the movies, but he is a cinematic kind of guy. Good sun all around. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d really like to thank everyone who’s asked me to have my work represent them on their music as covers. I’ve been doing it since high school and I’m glad I can be part of that community. It all started with Manwolves, then Ravyn Lenae, and now I’ve just done work for Arthur and Khary! I think the image of music is important so I really am honored to be asked for this stuff. My parents are also very nice, along with my studio mates. I think everything in the world helps me.
