We had the good fortune of connecting with Camden Coley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camden, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The career sorta chose me. I’ve always been a creative child; from performing shows for my family and friends to sharing stories. Entertaining has always just come natural for me. My parents put me on a journey to discover my passions. I’m only 11 so I don’t have all the answers just yet, but I’m having a ball figuring it out.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I love about my art is bringing people joy. Whether I’m acting, modeling, dancing or even doing voice-over work, I love seeing people react and inspiring them.
It wasn’t easy moving from South Carolina to LA because my family couldn’t always be together. I couldn’t spend birthdays with my dad or hug my sister at her kindergarten graduation. As a family, we sacrificed a lot to support our dreams. But, we learned that we can conquer anything together.
I want my story to inspire people who are different and have challenges. I hope that when they see me, they see someone who isn’t perfect but doesn’t give up.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I wanted to show my friend the best time ever, I would take him to BlaqueHaus NoHo and the Utopia Tribe party at Leimert Park. BlaqueHaus is a black-owned restaurant with good food and a cool vibe. We would have brunch there and then go to the dance party at Leimert. It’s my favorite place to dance and there are always cool, interesting, talented people to show you new moves!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a group of family and friends we call Cam’s Caravan — they have always supported my dreams and I’m super grateful for them. Also, DeAbreau, the modeling agency that gave me my start. And Brick City Varsity, my Uncle Larry’s photography & fashion brand.
