We had the good fortune of connecting with Chechi Sarai and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chechi, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic career because it is my calling to do music. When God calls you answer.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an artist and I love to create untraditional music. When creating songs, I think its best to be free and break boundaries. I am most proud of the album I’m currently completing. My upcoming album is so uplifting and inspirational. Most of the songs on my upcoming album are produced by me. This journey has been long and difficult but very much worth. My love for music is only growing. Prayer has kept me sane during hardships. Writing about hardships is one the best reliefs as a creative. I have learned that what is yours will be yours and you have to trust the process and the gift God gave you. I have learned to not rush things and trust God’s timing. I want the world to know that my story is real and proof that you can do the impossible!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to get out doors. If my best friend came into town, I would take her to Manhattan Beach in the morning. Then by 1pm, we would stop by an Afro beat day party in downtown Los Angeles. I love to dance! After the party, I would take my bestfriend to one of my favorite restaurants called O’cado in Sherman Oaks. To end the night, we would go to Sofitel for Jazz Night and I would sing there too!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to thank God first and foremost for my gift and blessing me with opportunities to share it with the world. I thank my family and friends for their consistent love and support even during long periods of not seeing each other. Last but not least, I must thank my ROSES. All of the likes, reposts, and shares I get really keep me going during difficult times.
