We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Kauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Camille, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

A few years ago, I read a statistic that men apply for 60% of the jobs they’re not qualified for, while women will only apply for jobs they are 100% qualified for. After reading that statistic, I felt empowered to apply for more gigs and it worked. I got red carpet opportunities, radio hosting gigs and more. I had auditioned as a teen for MTV VJ and was disqualified for being in SAG-AFTRA, Union. I was crushed and assumed that phase was over. Then when the pandemic hit and I had to transition my radio segment into a podcast show in order to be home for my daughter’s virtual academy.

I believe with the internet, you can connect to anyone and the world is at your fingertips.

Although I haven’t interviewed Diana Ross, Rosario Dawson or Goldie Hawn….I have had some dreamy guest and that’s way more than I could have a hoped for.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Growing up overseas, I idolize America, especially Hollywood and American music, that was the only place we saw Americans well besides on base. I wanted to be glamorous like Diana Ross. I watched all her concerts and movies. I would emulate her and even ordered my drinks “on the rocks,” to my parent’s embarrassment. If only it, was that easy. It took a lot of hard work, dedication

, classes, and networking to get to this point.I am constantly striving to be better and learn more.

As I mentioned earlier, I grew up with a film producer as my dad, Dwight Williams, and my mom, Olivia Gatewood was a stunt woman and is noted artist. I had amazing role models to learn from and because of their status, I was able to have access to amazing teachers that poured into me. I had a front-row seat to their work ethic.

I also fell in love with how films were made. I was fascinated by he whole creative process, and the financial breakdown of filming. I loved how crew became family, and each set was like a family reunion, never knew who I’d run into again.

Now, being able to share this process on my podcast, The E-Spot with Camille, ” I hope to inspire more people to go after their dreams.

I don’t mind the necessary hurdles because the greatest reward is having the opportunity to share my platform to inspire others.

Places to eat Shutters on the Beach, Maria Sol at Santa Monica’s Pier, Father’s Office for the best burger, Pressed Juicery to cleanse after all the delicious food.

You have to do something touristy like walk Venice beach.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of my must-stop places are The Getty, The Comedy Store, Universal Studios, Griffith Observatory, Leimert Park Art walk.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family are my greatest inspirations and cheerleaders, however, I dedicate my shout out my best friend, Jeremy Austin, aka Call her 6.  We have been through a lot of ups and downs together. We were “babies” when we met in 2003. I was fresh out of college and focused on my beauty career and Jeremy was already a successful salon owner, stylist, and model. We clicked immediately. We had so much in common with working in the same industry. We are a lot closer than friends, he’s my brother. Jeremy encourages me to demand more and reminds me that my intuition has never been wrong. When you see Jeremy perform as “6” his entire look is flawless.  He inspires me to live your life to the fullest. Just google him and you’ll see all that he’s overcome to get where he is today. I just couldn’t be more proud of him and honored to be on this journey with him.
