We had the good fortune of connecting with Camille Nimmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Camille, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Honestly, I didn’t have any idea of what I was doing, or really how I was going to go about it. I just knew that I wanted to help other people transform their lives and show them how to become their own cheerleaders, everything just fell into play for me and I was able to build an inclusive community of individuals who want to better themselves in a supportive environment.
What should our readers know about your business?
It’s crazy how BYOC got started, I attended this vision board party at the start of the new year, 2018. On this board I cut paste and wrote out a few of my goals for the new year. In one of the magazines, I saw an article about a woman who was expressing her love for running marathons and I cut a portion of that section out and placed it on my board, not really thinking twice about it.
Fast forward to the month of May and I’ve yet to complete one thing on that vision board, for some reason the marathon stuck out to me, and I just randomly decided I was going to run it. So, I trained for an entire year, and I researched how to prepare for your first race.
I was never an athlete growing up. I wasn’t into sports and was never really into fitness. On October 15th, 2019, I ran the Detroit free press, and completed my first marathon 26.2 miles; I couldn’t believe it. After completing my training, I decided I wanted to help other people achieve their goals. Not saying you have to go out and complete a marathon, but anything you set your mind to is possible.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
It’s so many places to eat in the metro Detroit area, we’d definitely do brunch at MI. Mosa in Farmington hills and maybe hit up one of my favorite lakes to go kayaking like Kensington, walled lake or Argo Park canoe and kayak in Ann Arbor Mi.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The entire BYOC Fam!
