We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlen “M.A.C.A” Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlen “M.A.C.A” Clark, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I have 3 habits that I will share with you… 1) Focus is definitely a habit that helped me succeed so far in music & film. Focusing on your vision is very important. 2) Continuously learning about my crafts is another habit that have got me to where I am at in my career. There’s always something new to learn & there’s always something to improve. 3) Keeping my fire LIT within (Laughs) in other words remaining passionate. I approach every opportunity as if it’s my first, I give it my absolute all. I am a firm believer in “if you don’t give it your all then don’t do it at all”.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I go by the name of M.A.C.A (MACA). It’s an acronym for “Music And Creativity Ablaze”. I began writing songs when I was 14. Began recording & performing at 15 & began professionally acting at the age of 23. My journey from then to now has not been easy (Laughs) but it has definitely been worth it. I’ve performed 100+ shows around Los Angeles released a multiple singles & releasing a collaborative EP with KevRevv in 2021. Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way are, 1) Timing is everything so patience is truly a virtue. 2) Don’t sit on a project for too long. The longer you sit on a project the more difficult it’ll take for you to release it. I am currently experiencing that with my upcoming EP ‘Wonderful’ which been in the works since 2017 but I promise it is coming soon! Another lesson I’ve learned is that 3) Dreams do come true.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to hangout at SchoolNight in Hollywood. SchoolNight is a showcase with independent artists from all over the world which takes place every Monday night in the heart of Hollywood. I like to eat at the Kickin’ Crab which is a seafood spot in Hollywood, right on Sunset blvd. I really enjoy their delicious seafood pasta! If you’re feeling beachy, (Laughs) I’d recommend Venice beach. There’s always something to see there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wonderful, that’s Love! I’d like to first shout-out God who makes everything possible for me, Shout-out to my fans all over the world your continued support over the years have helped pushed me through the darkest times. I’d like to shout-out mentors & fellow artists who’ve helped me with opportunities, advices, ideas & even inspiration throughout my journey such as Nick Kese, KevRevv, Verbs, James Ingram, Cherry Orchestra, Jed Leiber, Mercy, Robert Gatewood Just to name a few! I want to Shout-out a very special book called the “Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Chopra. My friend Raven Felix introduced me to the book a few years ago. I definitely recommend it.
