Meet Carlos Garcia | Actor and Stand Up Comedian

We had the good fortune of connecting with Carlos Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carlos, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was very unhappy with my life at the time. I had put all of my eggs in a basket by taking a job in NYC that I thought would bring me the happiness I yearned for. After a few months there I realized that the job was only making me feel worse. Sometimes spending 60-70 hours a week working on projects that didn’t fulfill me emotionally or creatively.
That is when I decided I had enough. If I was going to spend all of that time working, why not spend it working on my own dreams? I had to make a change.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor and stand up comedian. I have been featured on The Beavis and Butthead Show, MTV, the E! Network, Taxi Cab Comedy on FOX Nation, HuffPost, the Burbank Comedy Festival, and the Baltimore Comedy Festival. I have been in films that have made it to festivals around the world and that is just scratching the surface. I can’t wait for what the future will bring.
I think what sets me apart from many others is my ability to remain positive when life brings negatives. That positivity keeps me working, when many would have thrown in the towel, and allows me to make decisions that are best for me and my career accordingly.
The climb up the ladder in the entertainment business, like many other businesses, is extremely difficult and filled with doubts. However, I am happy to report that so far so good! I’m still climbing my way up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In LA, I would definitely go to the Santa Monica pier and enjoy the beach, weather, video games and boardwalk that the area has to offer.
I would also make sure we have a car so we can check out the many beaches in the area, like Hermosa Beach, Malibu Beach and Manhattan Beach. They are all within a 45-1 hour drive and have many different things to offer.
However, no LA visit is complete without stuffing our faces at In N Out. It really is one of the greatest places on earth.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my family, my girlfriend Julie Berman, all of the members of my acting class from over the years, and my comedian friends Barak Ziv, Ron Prendimano and Chris Moore. All of them have helped me grow in my craft and helped me stay motivated when times get tough.
