We had the good fortune of connecting with Carly Tatiana Panว†a and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Carly Tatiana, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Itโ€™s funny, as an artist you eventually hear that YOU are your product or what you create is your product. Being an artist is a business but it’s kind of weird to think about yourself that way. The way I view it is that my insights are my art and my writing, acting, stand-up comedy and filmmaking are as well. They are all valuable. When my business does well, for example, I book roles, I create passion project films with other creatives, I have someone read my writing, I pitch my writing projects, I sell out my stand-up shows, that means what Iโ€™m creating is getting out there in the world and when people encounter your creations it impacts them.

I think I tend to create art that is joyful, poignant, and inspiring so I think anytime the world has more power, joy and inspiration is a win-win for everyone.

Please tell us more about your work. Weโ€™d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons youโ€™ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Iโ€™m really proud that I took the leap and tried stand-up comedy this year. It was something I always wanted to do. It sounded so fun and terrifying all at the same time. In the process of trying stand-up I met so many extraordinary and hilarious women. I now know myself as someone who can go out on stage and read MY own words and share my ideas and make people laugh (and sometimes not!) and live to tell the tale. After trying stand-up comedy I feel unstoppable. It was an exhilarating experience and continues to be. Iโ€™m proud to be an artist who lets myself play and try new things without getting wrapped up in the hustle of our culture and worrying about whether this is gonna be my career now, etc. Iโ€™ve gotten pretty comfortable getting to a point where I follow up my joy and curiosity moment by moment with my art and life in general without worrying about what might come of it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love the East Side. Iโ€™m a hipster like that, without the attitude or cool clothes. Highland Park has this really cool vintage bowling alley. If you go to the heart of Echo Park or Silverlake and wander around you will run into so many magical little shops, cafes, and unique experiences. TAKE THE METRO. I only know a few people in LA who actually utilize it but with the right context, it’s an adventure and pushes you out of your comfort zone and has you connected to humanity as a whole. It’s also great for the environment too and sometimes even quicker than traffic and BONUS you donโ€™t have to worry about parking!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Lisa Sundstedt from Pretty, Funny Women and all of the amazing, supportive ladies in my graduating class from May 2023! She creates a safe space for women to try stand-up comedy in a male-dominated industry and it’s something that is magical and Iโ€™m so happy that it exists. Amplifying women’s authentic voices is SO needed in this world. Anytime women can take up space and give themselves permission to be seen and develop confidence in being up in front of others Iโ€™m all for it! So bravo and thank God for her. Go take her class and let her know I sent ya and then let me know when your graduation showcase is!
