We had the good fortune of connecting with Carol Grieve’ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Carol, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Eleven years ago, I got together with two friends. We were very concerned about what was happening with our food supply. All the added chemicals, genetically modified ingredients and fast food were and are deteriorating the health of America. The rise in chronic diseases such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and auto-immune disease were rising at an alarming rate. We wanted to create an educational show/podcast that would be a resource for people to learn about how food could either harm or heal. I am a life coach and I was currently doing a talk radio show where people would call in to ask me questions about their mental health. Since I already had a platform, I decided that we would switch it to discussing how people could heal their bodies by eating a healthy diet and living a healthy lifestyle. We starting having guests on our show who were experts in the field of health, We were fortunate that we have been able to get some of the best experts in the world on health and wellness. This was the birth of Food Integrity Now. Since its inception of almost 11 years ago, we have covered many different issues as it pertains to health and wellness. I became a Holistic Nutritionist during this process. The nutrition field chances much as we learn more and more about how diet and lifestyle effects our overall well being. I am constantly learning!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work is to educate and assist individuals and groups to create a better quality of life through diet and lifestyle. I address not only the physical body but the emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. When all of our bodies are in balance, harmony and well-being is the result. You must address all these areas to be truly healthy. I assist ones to become self empowered and to recognize that they have everything they need in them already–it just may be covered up by self-limited beliefs and patterns that are not serving them. When these beliefs are changed, new patterns are developed and new choices need to be made. We now understand how the gut and the brain are intimately connected. I find that when one changes their diet to one that works for their individual body, the brain changes and well being is so much easier to obtain. It is all about quality of life. In my coaching, the lesson I have learned it that change is never easy for most people. I cannot force anyone to change. I can offer the information but they need to do the work. Commitment is key to change. Compassion for self first is a must. Self love is very important and is a process. Many of us have been taught not to put ourselves first. It is not selfish to love self first, it is imperative!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I live in Southern California, we have many wonderful organic restaurants. We would eat at amazing restaurants, go to the beach, perhaps go hiking, and enjoy great conversation at home while having a nice glass of wine and cooking a wonderful organic meal.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am on the Board of an amazing organization called, Moms Across America. Their mission is to educate and empower mothers and others with actions and solutions to create healthy communities. This organization has helped so many moms who are dealing with chronic issues with their children’s health. They offer education and resources to create healthy individuals and communities around the world.
