We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Lesley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caroline, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Leap and the net will appear.” – John Burroughs. I think we have to jump into things in life because fear can hold us back from going after what we want. Whether it is fear of failure, or fear of success, fear can be debilitating. Another good quote is: “Do one thing everyday that scares you.” – Eleanor Roosevelt. And “One does not discover new lands without consenting to lose sight of the shore for a very long time.” – Andre Gide. I think people can achieve amazing things when they conquer their fears.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an actor, I’m excited that I just appeared on one of the most amazing TV shows right now – The Boys, Season 2. I have lived and worked in many different cities as an actor, host, comedian, photographer, and writer. Toronto, NYC, SF, and LA. Each city taught me different things about people, worth ethic, rejection, and success. My journey has taught me to never stop learning and growing. I wrote a book last year called “Who’s Tired of Perfect?” and I am in the process of turning that story into a feature film. The book is about a grief-stricken teenager that has to overcome her demons, to survive life in a society full of perfect. It addresses social media, the illusion of perfection, and its impact on mental health. I am the mother of two girls (ages 10 and 7), and I worry about the world they will grow up in, so I want to make this film to shine a light on the growing obsession with perfection. When the pandemic hit this past spring, I found myself at home (like many other mamas) with my kids helping them with virtual school. While we were in lockdown, I started doing resin art and found out that I am really good at creating ocean art and colorful coasters. I am building my resin brand, TOO MUCH LUSH. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am transient and currently in Toronto, but while in LA I would definitely make sure to hop in a convertible and take a drive up the PCH to Nobu Malibu and enjoy a gorgeous lunch with a view of the ocean and sound of the waves. One of my all-time faves is Gjelina on Abbot Kinney, so we would definitely go there for dinner one night and make sure to stop in at Aviator Nation and pick up a few rainbow tie-dye sweats and hoodies. We would have to hit The Ivy at the Shore to get my fave salad (fresh grilled vegetable salad) and make a day of riding our bikes along the beach. We could end the day with drinks at The Bungalow and sunset views of the ocean. If Last Line LA is in town I would hop in for a few piercings and pick up some ear candy. If you’re lucky enough to get an appointment with Dr. Woo, I would add a tattoo to that mix! A trip to LoveShackFancy is a must too! And Katsuya, Brentwood! It would be fun to do a zen day and head to the Lake Shrine and go for a hike at Will Rogers State Park. I will add that I LOVE The Grove during the holidays and the faux snow! Such a good vibe.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank every friend, agent, manager, casting director, producer, director, colleague and individual who gave me a shot along the way. Sometimes all it takes is one person giving you a chance. Also my husband and family for always believing in me and supporting my dreams. It’s extremely important to have a support system in place and know people are cheering you on!
