We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroline Maréchal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Caroline, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Probably the hardest decision I’ve had to make was when I moved from Paris, France to Los Angeles less than 2 years ago during a global pandemic. I had spent nearly 15 years working at Warner Bros. France as a Film Publicity Manager and I left my comfortable position to follow my family in this new adventure.
You know, it’s not so easy to start from scratch when you are 45. And I knew I would start from zero in a new career field despite of my strong background in the film industry. I had to sacrifice a lot, and also my family had to bear the consequences, which made my decision even more difficult.
Because this decision involved life changing, broaden our horizons, meeting people and making new connections. My family and I learned how to build our confidence and accept new challenges, and I believe we ultimately made the best decisions for us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a bilingual and creative Public Relations Specialist with over 20 years of integrated marketing and Public Relations experience in film and series, where I gained valuable insight into my career and what it takes to be a success. I offer a multicultural and international approach to developing publicity strategies that are both effective and efficient. My eye for global, my experience help me offer to films the value and the positive media coverage they need.
I conceive, arrange and manage all publicity activities : talent management, junkets, publicity events, talent tour, festivals, and social media strategy.

My life and work experiences allow me to work on such iconic film and television portfolios at Warner Bros. Universal Pictures, DreamWorks, StudioCanal, UGC, Wild Side and M6 video.

I was not supposed to work in Public Relations at first because when I was a little girl my dream job was to become a flight attendant and my passion for entertainment led me to where I am today.
I was lucky though because I had really great opportunities and worked with some awesome people in my early career who taught me a lot of what I know today.

Just believe in you dreams!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Los Angeles. The city is the entertainment capital of the world offering different spots and activities from movie studios to the ocean and much more.

My favorite place is Malibu because you can plan a day at the beach then have a lovely brunch at the Malibu Farms on the Malibu Pier and finish your day shopping at the Farmers market.
I also love Hermosa Beach and its stand where you can have a fun family bike trip while enjoying the beautiful view of the ocean. A lot fo fun!

My kids and I are lucky to live in the Hollywood Hills so we love taking people to the Hollywood sign and then hike to the Observatory. We also love Runyon Canyon, it is a fun hike and a great place to see beautiful views of the city, and if we are lucky we can see the ocean from Catalina Island to the Santa Monica Mountains on a clear day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to my family and especially my kids. They always believed in me, trusted and supported me in all my decisions and have made me stronger and better.

I am also grateful to everyone who has helped and supported me in my struggle to achieve my dream of becoming a Public Relations Specialist They immediately recognized my passion for entertainment.

I am so lucky and happy to have all of them in my life. Thank you !
