We had the good fortune of connecting with Caroll Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caroll, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson is that mistakes are an opportunity to learn. A recovering perfectionist myself, I’ve had to teach myself that it’s more valuable to fail and learn from my mistakes than to stress about things being perfect from the start. I like to remind myself – don’t let perfect be the enemy of the good.
What should our readers know about your business?
Provenance is a premium prepared meal delivery service that helps busy people eat clean with nutrient-dense, ready-to-eat meals delivered to your home or office.
At Provenance, we know that eating in a way that nourishes your body – that actually helps you thrive and not just survive – is not easy in the current food climate, where everyone is too busy and food corporations are often not offering the things we need to be well.
We’ve created a clean food oasis in what’s in many ways a food desert, filled with fake foods that ultimately make you sick. We’re protecting our clients by creating meals that are made from scratch out of real foods, using only the most nutritious and best quality ingredients. What we provide shouldn’t be so difficult to get, but it is.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A really fun outing would be to eat in Koreatown then relax at a Korean spa. I’d also take them on a long hike with ocean views in Malibu, ride bikes in Venice, and play pickleball in Santa Monica. We’d check out the latest exhibits at The Broad and LACMA, and wander the grounds at The Getty. Another favorite spot to eat would be Sawtelle. I’m still relatively new to Los Angeles, so I’d love to take a day trip to explore the coast and the Santa Ynez Valley and visit the vineyards and small towns I haven’t been to yet.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband is a serial entrepreneur, so he knows firsthand the emotional rollercoaster of creating something new and putting it out into the world. Yet he always reminds me that the problems I’m focused on solving are probably only 20% of my business and that there’s a whole 80% that is working well. He encourages me to celebrate the successes along with working on the problems. So I’d like to give him a shoutout for helping me keep things in perspective.
