We had the good fortune of connecting with Casey Fraijo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Casey, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I am inspired by spirituality, ancient knowledge, humanity and human nature, and our abilities to go through and endure some of the hardest situations in life and still come with an open heart. Art heals me and the world each time it’s created.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artist career started out just like any other I was painting since childhood and creating with different mediums. And I’ve always worked with acrylic but once I was introduced to a certain type of art and the people it came from my world of art opened up drastically. I began creating more intricate fine art and incorporating geometry and aerosol paint into my art along with ancient knowledge or healing that I’m experiencing. My art has been a huge challenge for me due to the fact that I am not trained in any aspect of art and more importantly drawing. But I continue to execute my visions by having faith in myself and in my craft. I have a resilience in me and a persistence that continues to aid me in my craft even in times where I do not believe I can do it. Art has been there for me more then once, helping me life and helping me express and find connections with people who resonate with my truth.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from the Inland Empire where we have an eclectic rage of things to do. I love breweries and live music so I would definitely make that a must and then I would go to my local artwalk in the area and enjoy some good food at my favorite taco spot. I also love the beach so I would make my way out that way and check out more art at the local galleries and get some burgers from my favorite hole in the wall bar, play some pool and end the night with a joint by the ocean. We’d also enjoy the nightlife at one of the events/raves/festivals I paint at ending a really great week filled with art, laughs, good food and drink and amazing company.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
@omni.art.management run by Ryan Fullerton brought me into some amazing opportunities and introduced me to some amazing people that helped me take my art in a direction rather than just creating. I found community, something I always longed for.
Diana Echeverria, an amazing individual. An artist curator and a member of the Pomona Chamber of Commerce, she gives us artists space to create and express. She gives us community and brings so many artists together. She has given me numerous opportunities to expand, create, and grow and I am forever grateful for these communities of art!
