We had the good fortune of connecting with Cassie Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Cassie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I created the Kids From Room 416 Storytelling podcast to offer something different for listeners, a media type that minimizes screentime and maximizes imagination. The podcast intentionally features characters who are flawed, who make mistakes, and who sometimes act in ways that aren’t immediately likable – just like real children, lol.

Kids deserve to see themselves authentically represented. When they recognize their own struggles in the characters, it helps them feel less alone in navigating the ins and outs of childhood.

What truly sets the podcast apart from others are the carefully crafted reflection questions at the end of each episode. These prompts invite listeners to connect the themes to their own lives, creating natural opportunities for meaningful conversations between children and caregivers.

The talkback questions are designed to create a safe space for exploration. They allow children to process social dynamics – from bullying and conflict resolution to friendship changes and self-confidence in a way that feels comfortable, not confrontational.

The ultimate goal for me? To reach more kids through books, tv and film.
This is just the beginning!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always knew that I wanted to be a writer. Even before I knew how to write.

When I was a kid, I would sit down with my mom and tell her my stories – she’d write my words onto lined paper, I would draw the pictures, and then we’d tie the three holes with yarn. BOOM! A book! (She’s an author)

Then I grew up and kinda fell into the whole “corporate thing”, thinking about what was sustainable and the things that the people around me were doing. The milestones and accolades I could acquire to make those around me proud were my driving force.

I went so far in the wrong direction.
Then, in 2023, I tore everything down so I could rebuild it the way I wanted to. With no worries about being socially acceptable or making the people around me comfortable.

This is hands-down the scariest sh*t I’ve ever done in my life: carve my own path.
And my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner.

I watch so many talented people be stifled by fear. What I want people to know is that fear never really goes away. It’s all about what you do in the face of fear, the actions that you take. Do it scared!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First thing’s first, we’re going to Los Feliz Flea market for vintage finds first thing in the morning (parking is no joke). Then we’re heading to Pasadena for coffee at “Home Brewed Bar”, the Nutella Latte is my fave.

With latte in hand, we’re walking over to Urth Cafe for a Nutella Cronut (Nutella on Nutella, yeah, I know.. but trust me here)

Once our sugar-high is in check, we’re going to improv class at The Glendale Room, grabbing lunch at Mini Kabob near the mall.

Dinner is at Yard House (turkey sandwich with fries).

Then hit up a The Crow (comedy club in Santa Monica).

Late night Tacos and belly laughs.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m inspired by so many other women in film, literature and storytelling.

Judy Blume, because she’s been keeping it real since the 70s.
Issa Rae, who tells the most relatable stories that have literally moved a generation.
Mindy Kaling and Amy Schumer who have insane comedic timing and storytelling abilities.
